Remarkable
An eerie lack of commentards.

I've never been unfortunate enough to have been in such a situation, but know people who have. It's actually quite easy to get to a place where it's difficult to get out - through financial commitments etc. It also takes time to realise just how bad a situation is, and that it's not just one individual going through a melt-down. On top of all that, you have to already have something lined up before jumping. You'll never get a reference, and that combined with an unexplained and unusually short time will raise concerns on the job market.
Force everyone to install very expensive battery backup systems in their cellars - no cellar, you'll have to dig one.
This won't stop your entire home getting controlled, but it will protect the important profits of the grid companies, as well as maintaining GCHQ snooping capability
John Deere that is.
I was asked to find replacement lamps for a control display on a combine. They were specially made ones with oh-so-slightly greater base diameter than off-the-shelf bi-pin ones, with pins that were also thinner than normal.
I got the blown ones out easily enough using a piece of rubber tubing and a good hard suck! The housing was clearly designed to make this difficult.
According to Derre, they could not be replaced, and the entire control panel had to be changed at the cost of several thousand pounds.
They lost that sale though. I built replacements using miniature LEDS and series resistors!
Well now, first put forward in England, given serious consideration by NASA...
With the way they are developing their expertise in all things I reckon it's more than time to stop regarding China as a joke. In fact, these days it's the USA that's beginning to look like it will soon be wearing a clown outfit.
You lot have had it easy.
Back in the day (a long time ago) as a young trainee electronics engineer I was the only male in a room of about 30 women ranging from early 20s to late 30s who were hand-wiring PCBs.
The mildest comment I got was "I'm ready to be inspected and tested now." It was the longest month of my training.
I use small shops as much as possible for quality goods - decent ones that don't put an unreasonable mark-up on everything. Supermarkets for bulk dross - no store cards, and Amazon basic (not prime) only as a last resort. Any on-line shop that uses paypal goes on the credit card (not the debit one) and I don't have an actual paypal account.
I recognise that 'they' will always find ways to track you but like to keep my profile as low as possible.
