Over the years, I came to have increasing respect for her.
Born into very considerable wealth, which she never flaunted.
Successfully navigated meetings with all kinds of people, across the world and across many, many years.
The best ambassador this country has ever had - and probably ever will have.
About a year ago I squirted some deoxit into the scratchy volume control of the tuner-amp I built in the mid 1970s, and still use. It's right in front of me now.
A few months ago I repaired the signal generator that I built just before the tuner-amp - it had gone unstable due to a dried out tantalum cap. That's sitting on the kitchen workshop table.
It goes right back to when audio separates were all stuffed into the ghetto blasters of the early 70's, and the solid designs were replaced with overpriced crappy and bendy plastic... which got even more bendy if left out in the sun. If (sorry, when) the monstrosity failed, silence reigned, which at least made the parents and neighbours happy.

There's a few to be getting on with. Now, can Vulture Central do one of the above to those correspondents that use the ridiculous and totally inappropriate expression "reached out"... unless they really did lean across and tapped someone on the shoulder to get their attention.
Now, what were we saying... Oh yes, it's been far too hot here for days to do anything that requires intelligent thought, so I guess steel work, and electronics assembly is not a good comparison.
