Skylab Medical Experiment Altitude Test?
could have called it:
Skylab Medical Experiment Altitude Research
and then they'd have to conduct SMEAR tests.

Well, there was a kind of guarantee that the money was for
"the development of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum Vega+ is complete, and we have a fully working prototype waiting to go into production in the UK. Production and shipping of the first Vega+ games consoles are planned for late summer 2016"
Saturday 15th October, 2016
The campaign receives "Arrow certification", saying they have received a design review to ensure the campaign is ready for production.
oh wait
Thursday 16th March, 2017
The "Arrow certification" that has been present since the 15th of October is revoked.
Yes, it's got his grubby finger prints all over it

it seems to be:
start company
be majority share holder
raise funds
shift assets
vote to wind up company (use proxy vote to ensure it goes your way)
assign own liquidator
buy remaining assets on the cheap
repeat, but there's nothing illegal in that, is there?

true, but now that Levy, Martin, and Mrsic-Flogel have been instructed to cough up by the high court, they're much more likely to get a visit from a HCEO, as seen on such shows as "Can't pay, we'll take it away" and their ilk.
More likely than indiegogo pulling their finger out and doing what they said they would 7 months ago, anyway...
because theyre /dedicated/?
seriously though, this was going to be a Rick Dickinson design, housing a Chris Smith hardware creation.
look them up.
if Sinclair had made a handheld, back in the day, this is pretty close to what it might have looked like.
and a thousand LICENCED games? with the ability to add more via SD card?
a working prototype ready to go into production.
I still have a windows phone (my 6th, currently on a lumia 640 after an 820, an HTC mozart7 and a bunch of Orange SPVs. I even tried a samsung ativ S but the RAM...) and I'm genuinely concerned about only having two choices of phone (iOS and Android), and the massive cost of ownership, in the near future.
My plan is to buy up a bunch of 640XLs (or 950 XLs) cheap and then run them into the ground, and yes, the price of the Elite X3 put me right off.
https://clivehelpus.website/refund
now has:
287 backers requesting refunds from RCL totalling £33560
meanwhile, we're 3 days from RCLs next announced release date / IGG extension of the 15th of June.
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-sinclair-zx-spectrum-vega-plus-console#/updates/all
You'd think we'd have pictures by now, right?
or a games list?
Yeah, no.
We're all counting on the next excuse blaming IGGs (reasonable) demands for a unit to be posted to the HQ, for backers requesting refunds, to be refunded, blaming IGGs 2 week extension date, and blaming Sky for denying that they delayed the previously announced release date.
Remember when they said they were good to go 8th-12th of May?
it's now "133 backers have requested refunds totalling £16320"
of course, releasing a statement acknowledging the existance of:
https://clivehelpus.website/refund
means that RCL are going to start refunding those backers, right?
Maybe they can refund the backers in the comments section of their:
Indiegogo campaign
FB page
twitter account
as well. I suspect that's more than 133 backers...
the best part was when RCL admitted to only having licencing deals with 4 of the 140 rights-holders, for the original zx vega collection of 1000 games, in April 2016...
they admit they had to replace games, that have been withdrawn, over the last two years. They knew permission had been withdrawn for 400 games.
if they found 400 replacements, they're licenced
if the other 600 hadn't been withdrawn, theyre still licenced
because of the licencing deal for the original zx vega
Anyway this all started when some reposted the original games list as a "leaked zx vega plus games list", they panicked when they realised that we knew they didn't have licences for some or all of them
if that's not true
why did RCL miss the announced delivery date of 8th-12th of May?
fiat lux:
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-sinclair-zx-spectrum-vega-plus-console#/
"Development of the product is complete, and a fully-functioning prototype is ready to go into production."
"Our Indiegogo campaign is to raise funds to manufacture the first 2,500 or more units of the Vega+ in the UK, and to prepare us for the second production run."
do you see?
I sense much disappointment ahead:
for both backers who don't receive their ZX Vega + (V2 first batch), aproximately 4450 of them to be precise.
and backers who receive what may well be:
a ARM A20
a 2.5" LCD screen
with terrible buttons.
On the plus side, the device IS being manufactured in the UK.
With Chinese screens.
as yet there are no photos offered in evidence the mere existance of this "batch", nor a games list *, PEGI rating, packaging, nor advanced reviews, from credible sites.
It's almost like they're going to try and sneak it out in limited numbers to friends and family, and hope it's enough to keep the wolves** at bay.
We shall see.
* due between 5pm and 6pm today. Why? There are 1000 of them, tell us about some of them.
* indiegogo, who are poised to strike down with great vengence, if they don't meet the "end of May" deadline for delivery

"the list of 1000 games will be revealed 01/05/2018"
according to a post on the official FB group, which begs the questions:
the list isn't finalised?
hasn't been submitted for PEGI rating?
can't be partially divulged?
they're useless at marketing?
if i had a product ready to go in two weeks id be:
showing the device (not a render)
showing the box (and listing the contents)
listing the games (at least list a few heavy hitters, 'and many many more')
sending out press units (with no embargo)
getting RoHS and PEGI sorted
Nothing RCL have done to date convinces me that they'll deliver the actual finished product, that was backed, to the any of the disgruntled backers, "between the 8th and 12th May 2018"
and a "limited release" doesn't count.
they've had 2 years
they've had half a million pounds
I do not believe they have the means to deliver 5000 ZX Vega + in the next two weeks.
(leaked (but verified) bank statements, lack of PEGI, RoHS, Roll of honour, and games list aside, obviously)
half the number of backers,
2/3 the money
1% of the comments.
easily debunked
and only 25 months old
theyre hardly comparable.
also, no one cares. if enough people make enough noise maybe they will move on it. try tweeting with the hashtag #takingyoudownwiththem when you tweet @indiegogo about it? good luck
