Ads
I'll stick with the mobile version and avoid the grief.
The relevance of the ads I'm getting when browsing on a work PC with no adblocker - Argos (cos I bought a watch a month ago), music store (cos I bought a keyboard last week), occasional tech stuff I have no interest in and at least four sites catering for teenage girls fashion WTF? I've never had the urge to look at teenage dresses (not online anyway).

Re: Windows. Do people still use that shit?
Where I work has some Win PCs because as you say choices of business software. The server estate being mostly Linux all I need is a Mint desktop and connect to the servers I look after via a terminal (I like the old school green text on a black background).
At home it's Mint all the way except for an Android tablet and phone.

Working for a multinational PC / Laptop builder pre-internet days we started to get virus infections likely introduced by folks loading up games via the floppy drive. A networked anti-virus solution was installed which notified me via email that a virus had been found on xyz PC. Login passwords were introduced so no excuses like 'it wasn't me somebody else accessed my PC'. Senior manager who was a bit of an arsewipe sent out a company wide email stating that anyone found with a virus would be instantly fired.
Yep, you know what's coming. A couple of weeks later I got an email stating his PC was infected, I kicked this up the chain bypassing him of course and later that day was escorted off the site by two security guards with the contents of his desk in a bin bag. Oh how we laughed...

Re: PC Updated itself last night
Not my experience with Mint of many versions over the years and on a variety of hardware. It's been rock solid for me and the many folks I've switched over to it. Support calls from friends and family are now zero (I refuse to deal with Windows issues anymore), happy all round.

Ads?
What ads targeted or otherwise? Haven't seen any in years. Ad blockers, trackers blocked, noscript etc, anonymous behind a VPN. Also some sort of FB plugin that controls what I see when I use it occasionally you know the 'people you might know' shite as well as ads.
Anything I'm missing besides the grief?

What FB ads?
I use FB as it's useful to keep in touch with extended family and friends who live abroad. I installed Facebook Purity to control / nix the shite it throws at me so a more pleasant experience.
I never use the FB app on the phone and will never give up my phone number for 2FA to any business, been spam free for decades and intend it to stay that way.

The Greenock warehouse was a twenty minute drive from me and when they still had the customer pick up point open it did very good business. Need a hard drive, cables, any kind spare just check the website for stock availability and nip down there, it was always busy. Often got bargains with returned goods and a discount as I git to know the staff. Then they closed it and I never bought from them again.
