Great robots playing Doom. Those will be the first to become self-aware and take the game into the real world. Or at least that's the way my luck would run.

There is also a trigger frequency. I have had some EDM/Techno music playing on my Echo and it will trigger from time to time. I have also had a TV commercial say "Mark this on your calendar" and my Echo lit up and said "You don't have your calendar linked to the system". I am not home most of the time, so it's just recording silence for me. One day I'll get a frequency generator and go up the tones until I find it. It has to be a really high frequency as I'm good at picking up on low frequencies.

How about we outsource CEO's and other upper executive officers? Maybe reduce the board of directors to a council of 7 with one of those members representing the hard working labor force? They help create the idea. They worked the long hours to debug the dang thing. Why shouldn't they have an advocate at the upper levels?

A draft US law to secure election computers that isn't braindead. Well, I'm stunned! I gotta lie down
But the contract will still go to Diebold equipment because they've done government election equipment in the past. Therefore a preferred vendor. So how much will really change? The design specs will, in my opinion, probably be written in a way that only Diebold can win it, or by it's very nature be unsecure or have a backdoor.

ALIENS!!! Or perhaps we could train some dolphins? hahahahaha
Ok Seriously now, we will find it eventually. There will be someone looking for something else or on some other task and will stumble across it. My question is, how much time can pass with pressure and sea water before the data recorders are totally useless if not already?
Angst in her pants: Alleged US govt leaker Reality Winner stashed docs in her pantyhose
I don't feel sorry for her at all. When you take high security positions, you are entrusted with sensitive materials that are not designed/intended to be openly released. You sign documents before you even get your badge stating you will not behave this way. I'm so tired of people feeling that THEIR values are more important. When you work at that level, you do not get to see the big picture.
Granted, there are provisions for whistle blowers. But this was not the case. I would have given her 20 years if it was up to me.

Equifax's disastrous Struts patching blunder: THOUSANDS of other orgs did it too
And there's the problem - nobody wants to pay for something they think that they can get for free ...
So many businesses think they can cut corners on the IT support. While you probably could let Joe in sales who bought a website template and runs it at home fix your production network, it is no substitute for a real experienced IT staff. Their education (and continuing education) is not cheap. Everyone has to pay somehow. The CTO has to decided when they are going to pay, now or later.

I like messing with the scammers. "Oh my computer is leaking a virus. You say you're from Microsoft? Oh you're on the main campus? Let's talk this over. What's your building and office number, I'll have a shuttle there in a few minutes. **CLICK**"
Or "who is this? what is your operating number?"

Exactly. My mom still uses a 2011 i3 and outside of a slow boot up time, it does everything she needs. I just built a new system to replace my 2011 i7, and the configuration will last me another 8 years (although the M2 SSD will probably need a swap out at 3 or 4 years). People will always need a PC, but just not as many as before.

2) Always Be Sure Of Your Target And What Is Behind It
3) Never Point The Gun At Something You Are Not Prepared To Destroy
4) Keep Your Finger Off The Trigger Until You're Ready to Fire

When your low bid outsourced IT department is behind on patches and then you have a network breach, are we going to see the crying CTO saying "We did everything we could. Here is some free monitoring service for a year. Which is also outsourced to the same outfit that couldn't keep up on security patches."
