Yes, your old iPhone is slowing down: iOS hits brakes on CPUs as batteries wear out

michael.moon

ok there is a simple solution to all this

Apple make a patch to remove the illegal practice they have put in place , then they compensate all iphone and ipad users they have affected. If people purchased a new phone or new ipad as the old one was SUDDENLY too slow , apple have to reimburse the customer for the price of the device that the customer just purchased, based on that without the APPLE illegal code slow down the users would of have not purchased a new device as it was working just fine at the speed that was required. So that this can NEVER be used as excuse in the future all new devices have to have sensible battery monitor ic's embedded (these ic's are around what 2$ max ) should be able to fit that into a device with a 1000$ Build order without adversely affecting the build cost . Apple knew what they where doing was wrong or they would not have tried to hide it for so long, they have only come forward now as a class action law suit has been filled against them or they would have continued to rip off the customers until someone noticed.

They are thieves , they stole functionality from users in that there devices became almost unusable which was timed to coincide with new product releases , to force the old device to become obsolete . This is not APPLES choice to make they should not have tried to manipulate the market , now to be honest they deserve everything they get from the class action law suit (including bankruptcy ) this needs to really signal all players of hardware that rip off your customers and there will come a day where you will pay DEARLY.

Funnily enough, no, IT admins who trash biz machines can't claim they had permission

Re: I've, umm... done most of that stuff

IF change management is even implemented, also as far as most technical requests go , hi mr manager who has no clue about anything IT related , Is it ok for me to adjust the companies DNS records I would like to adjust the mx records for another system , I also need to make some adjustments to our backup systems it will make over 700% better use of space it will save us a fortune in storage , Plus I really should take a look at the monitoring systems I am likely to be getting a lot of alarms lately due to some backup related changes you approved , is ok if i shut it down for a while , O last thing the vpn it has not been patched for like years , i think this weekend is the perfect time to do it :-) , o sorry one last thing the documentation server , it seems out of date would it be ok if i redo it for you , might take me a while like say a few months but don't worry the company is worth it ;-).

submitted as a request like this worded correctly , your IT manager normally some poor person from management would most likely still sign off not realising he just signed the death warrant for the network.

Problem solved , documentation (I was in the process of rewriting it when you arrested me , unfortunately now due to the stress of the arrest i wont be able to do it, it's a lot of work and i was going to start the documentation from the beginning to get it done just how the company likes, as in as much work as they can get for free while firing people ) , but the backups , o yes thats unfortunate we had a lot of failures so i wiped it, i was meaning to rebuild that , but the cops showed up , and the VPN ? o I patched it , it didn't work it's a shame i had already cleaned up the backups I could really have done with them at that point , lucky i got permission from management right , you subverted the email system , did I ? I asked if i could make the changes to the mx records, the manager said I could .

Bottom line is treat people with respect and fairly and you won't get people going over the deep end like this in the first place.

Re: I've, umm... done most of that stuff

I don't think a impartial observer is a good idea , it's like asking joe smo , so look at this brain surgen performing this operation , so do you think they did a good job or a bad job ? , joe smo can submit a opinion but thats just it it's a opinion , he has no clue what it's like to actually do the job.

Re: I've, umm... done most of that stuff

I suppose in short , no he diden't give a care in the world about all the people he would upset and inconvenience , On the flip side, neither did the company as they throw away their employees like garbage , so kinda like pot calling the kettle black. Company doesn't care , doesen't listen to reason , eventually neither does the system admin. One might look at cause and effect , cause company treats people like crap , effect employee treats company like crap

Intel to slap hardware lock on Management Engine code to thwart downgrade attacks

Re: So...

perhaps a better solution , obviously only for the security minded , publish which chip which IO pins do what , so we can use a scalpel to physically cut those lines, after all not much use having a management god mode if you CAN'T access it cant reprogram the firmware to get around the physically cut lines.

Surely this is the buyers preference ? they bought the motherboard it's there hardware , give people the data to PERMINANTLY RENDER THE FUNCTION USELESS!! . :-) or has it been embedded into the cpu itself , surely it must be on it's own separate IC or would not have unfettered access to the memory also

IETF protects privacy and helps net neutrality with DNS over HTTPS

Re: DNS scales ...

I agree with you in principle, perhaps with caching of the dns responses it might offload the initial hump of all the ssl setup , as in dns address's do not on a regular basis change , so if one can cache the answers for much longer , most things shouldn't break . As long as the dns server ( preferably in your router) ,implements this and receives updates for when bugs are detected with the service.

It offers better privacy and net neutrality.

For all readers that say if you are doing nothing wrong you have nothing to hide, I say great please send me copy of passport, birth cert , address, bank questions, copy of your bank card would be nice along with the pin code, O and all the naked selfies you have ever taken. Those not willing to do this I am assuming now understand WE ALL HAVE THINGS WE SHOULD HIDE, also because naked selfies of me you would need bleach on the brain to get the image out of your head :-) .

Car tax evasion has soared since paper discs scrapped

michael.moon

All wonderful points

All seeing a different point of view , yes tax people , yes punish people yes fine people .

Perhaps we should look at the more underlying problem, the white elephant in the room, why is tax evasion going up ? . Well lets look at the vehicles not being taxed, I would guess that they are not Teslas or Porsches , bmw or any other luxury car , they are owned by poor people with little or nothing. these people are living on pay day to pay day , paying what bills they can , deferring others until they can pay them. With britex looming this will only get worst, wait until the uk economy officially declares bankrupt , but don't worry the car tax will be least of your worries, as the banks (private or publicly owned ) will start pushing up interest rates same as they did in the past , so even the snobs of you reading of others misery and suggesting taxing people into the ground will soon learn what it means to have everything you have taken from you , you will learn what it means to have government watching your every move , you will be deemed use-full (producing something they want, taxes, products services) or irrelevant (to be thrown away , taxed into oblivion or benefits illegally frozen until you die ) perhaps conscription comes back good way to murder a few million people , send the poor off to war, most won't come back so problem eliminated , look car taxes being paid, unemployment down, everything is wonderful.

I recommend to the people that want to spew disapproval and judgment on others , try to live as the people your despise before you judge . The more likely reason people are not paying car tax , you have reached a tax threshold with cost of fuel and other taxes where something has to give, there is no money left, people cant afford it anymore, I expect someone will say well then you cant drive, ok thats fair, but then how do these people work to earn money to pay the taxes ?
