Re: One wonders ...

I seem to recall someone having said the latency will ostensibly be around 110-200 ms. I can’t remember where I saw that though, so take my words with a grain or ten of salt.

Uber hack: EU data protection bods launch taskforce

I’m glad Über is being investigated.

After all, they have managed to mangle so many things in their handling of this. First, they screwed up security by storing all sorts of confidential data on third-party services, then they screw up by paying off the hackers (no doubt sending them the signal that hacking Über is profitable), then they screwed up by not telling anyone for months.

And then there’s the way they’ve broken the law multiple times to maximise profit, and the outright toxic corporate culture.

Good Riddance to Über. Rot in hell.

I’m not surprised. When will the government learn that you cannot break encryption for some without breaking it for all, and that there is no (easy) way for apple to get into an encrypted device, even if they made it?

And therin lies a massive part of the problem: too many elected officials are clueless when it comes to math, science, and reality.

We need to get more people with practical degrees (not to demean non-STEM fields) to run for office in order to make the government more logical and rational.

Can we get a usable translation for that? I'm pretty sure no machine or human will be able to break that.

That seems a bit far-fetched, but it's always possible. Just very, very unlikely.

You see, that's the problem with free websites

Companies have to make money, and if they're not getting it directly from you, they're probably making it by selling your information. Facebook, Google, the whole lot. They make money off of you using their free service by tracking your habits and behaviours.
