One click and you're out: UK makes it an offence to view terrorist propaganda even once

Re: Goodbye Youtube?

"it was an offence to collect or make a record of information that is likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism." Also goodbye maps? They may be quite useful if the terrorist is from out of town...

WTF?

Magic WiFi?

Unless their definition of being able to work at all is actually being able to access Facebook how would WiFi make a difference? Also if it did why not pit a switch on the end of the cable run instead of an AP?

Is Google purposefully breaking Microsoft, Apple browsers on its websites? Some insiders are confident it is

You could use offline WSUS as well, that updates IE quite nicely!

Have they Fixed Bluetooth?

Have they sorted their implementation of the bluetooth stack that stops Huawei phones working reliably with Fitbit devices?

Might not be a big thing for everyt=one but It's really annoying if you want to dig into your fitbit stats and your phone is your main device...

Re: I want to move away

Depends on wht you mean by "availliable from the UK".

I've recently swapped most of our domains over to gandi.net (I think they're based in France).

So far no issues, had a bit of a problem transferring one of the domains but that was sorted by their help desk, so far so happy!

Still not on Windows 10? Fine, sighs Microsoft, here are its antivirus tools for Windows 7, 8.1

Re: Is that weird or what?

Honest question, are you able to install the click to run version with Crossover? With Microsoft retiring the msi with Office 2019 that might cause issues (admittedly old office versions are mainly fine but it you need vba and security updates for office...)

No Windows 10, no Office 2019, says Microsoft

verno

Will existing installs still work

We're pretty much stuck on Windows 7 at the moment for legacy kit but moved to office 365 when 2007 support for exchange 365 ended so the big question for me is whether existing installs of office 365 are going to stop working at this point or will they continue to limp along with no security updates until MS to decide to cut them off from their other services completely whenever that will be.

Open source would be great but we are dependant on a lot of Excel macros as well as other bits and pieces that we just can't move over.

Re: Just another attempt

Isn't that the same for secured APs as well though? Once people are connected then there's not much difference unless the router has some firewall policies blocking inter device connections (which isn't what we're talking about here I don't think?).

Plus if it's a public WiFi then the Password isn't going to be hard to get hold of (on a notice by the cash register etc...) so not really much of a security gain...

As someone said above though I'm more than willing to be proved wrong.

Re: a matter of pride?

Apart from the argument that they're harming their own children (I'm going to leave that one alone) some people can't be vaccinated due to other medical conditions, if you've got a swathe of the population that is not vaccinated either then that child is more likely to pick up the disease from another non-vaccinated child.
