Many historical examples

Often attributed also to Edison

Example: [Cerf, 1945]

Nikola Tesla visited Henry Ford at his factory, which was having some kind of difficulty. Ford asked Tesla if he could help identify the problem area. Tesla walked up to a wall of boilerplate and made a small X in chalk on one of the plates. Ford was thrilled, and told him to send an invoice. The bill arrived, for $10,000. Ford asked for a breakdown. Tesla sent another invoice, indicating a $1 charge for marking the wall with an X, and $9,999 for knowing where to put it.

Re: "Computacenter is offering a 12-month free ID monitoring service"

And Equifax (who where hacked and "gave away" my data) and who offered me free use of their fraud checking service which asked me for even more data like credit card, passport etc so they could scan "the dark Web" etc!!

Sure, as if I would trust them any more. Stupid or what!

O2 excuse

When I complained to O2 that they hadn't changed me automatically to the lower sim only price at the end of the contract term as their CEO had been boasting about on TV, they claimed that as it had been bought through Carphone Warehouse they couldn't as CPW wouldn't give them me contact details!!! What utter crap, as they have my billing details and they run my phone number!!!

After much fighting I managed to get "some" compensation, not the total overpayment!

Incompatible meters

It makes me wonder what the true cost of the roll out will really be.

I had two smart meters installed just over a year ago replacing my 20 year old ones. I am in the process of changing energy providers as my fixed price deal is coming to an end, and the new provider will be installing two new meters, as there is no interoperability between the two company systems.

What a huge waste of time and resources and ultimately MY money as they seem to have rushed the whole thing without working out common standards etc!!
