Hackers can cook you alive using 'microwave oven' sat-comms – claim

I3N

Simpler times ... none of this fol-de-rol ...

Straight answers to straight questions ....

Checked out the 1964 the microwave engineers' handbook and buyers guide, Hansen has another chart - Power Density at 2D^2/lambda w/equation. Off the cuff, looks like Pavg of 300W, per the example, to satisfy near field exposure requirements ...

old guys left all the books, younger guys just left ...

Per the pdf,

"The computer used to produce the data used for this report was a government owned Z-248 (AT compatible) equipped with a numerical math coprocessor (80287 chip)."

The Air Force always was more enamored with decimal points, says the Navy ...

snatched 2 out of 4 Z-248's at Ship Stores ...

All those lost souls [suckers] waiting for the Unisys contract to deliver .... https://www.researchgate.net/publication/235040074_The_Zenith_Z-248_as_a_Scientific_Workstation

Re: Cooked ALIVE? Seriously?

(*****)

But I always keep a scan of R.C. Hansen's Axial Power Density in the Near-Field Normalized to 2D^2/lambda handy for such occasions ...

sometimes wish I could post images ...

peaks at 0.1 or 230m at a ADP factor of 40 over APD of 1 at 1 (2.3km) per your example

This and gain (dBi) versus beamwidth were used to try to keep the snake-oil salesmen at bay ...

America's top maker of cop body cameras says facial-recog AI isn't safe

I3N
Bronze badge
Flame

HELL, SAFE, SAFE? ... I've been waiting 8 months

for my body camera request and what finally arrives is my original request ...

cop: yelling and screaming at me about fence permit ...

me: is that thing on. ... cop: 24/7 ... me: mine too ... cop out back taking pictures ... me waving ....

cop writes me up for permit violation - cameras on utility pole

City wants nothing to do with fence permit, none required and have zoning approval

City really doesn't want utility pole issue ... not their problem or pole ... Pai got it set up so I can just declare I'm an Internet service with expedited approval

Out checking property markers two weeks later.

Cop shows up. Told him I'm filing a harassment complaint ...

cop: so what ... me: I want the video on what was said by that Trump loving, Hispanic woman to get you riled up ...

cop orders me out of street and then pulls over with lights flashing.

AND NOW THE FUCKING VIDEO CAN"T BE FOUND!!! WHO CARES ABOUT AI!

Well guess what, and I bought a copy of NFPA 101 2012

And as a NFPA member once upon a time, they required that I accept their terms and conditions. but first reset that forgotten password.

If you consider your email address as free-access payment, https://www.nfpa.org/Codes-and-Standards/All-Codes-and-Standards/Free-access

Was touring makerspaces. With arc welding at the front door and rear door blocked with satellite tv dishes - a 'Right, what's all this then?!' moment.

Uber breaks self-driving car record: First robo-ride to kill a pedestrian

I3N
Bronze badge
Boffin

Re: Clear cut...

You've never been to AZ

1) generally flat terrain

2) economically driven, substantial pedestrian traffic

3) wearing of dark colours - the need to not stand out [economic and personal safety issue]

4) http://ktar.com/story/443238/tempe-police-step-up-efforts-to-enforce-pedestrian-laws/? [mistaken about definition of crosswalk, which most of AZ seems to be]

Saying this, have no idea of the circumstances.

Some folks in SoCal prefer the train.

Sister-in-law was a Jane Doe for about two weeks and prefer to think she was confused and wandered into traffic.

Do miss Uber testing in the neighborhood where dust storms and wet microbursts are common. Set up E-Band propagation range kitty-corner across intersection. Wanted to see them earn their 9's without mm-Waves.
