Ailing ZX Spectrum reboot firm kicks crisis meeting into long grass

bobmajors

The "poor contractor" pocketed a five figure sum for 18 months of lying about the progress of the device. This is merely an attempt to paint himself as an innocent party.

What's up with that ZX Spectrum reboot? Still no console

Re: £20K paid?

If you read the linked Reg article, the initial £20K was paid - it's the extra payments totalling at least £17,000 which have not.

Re: Seriously though

It is indeed.

The Gemini pocket PC is shipping and we've got one. This is what it's like

Re: Oh, and I'd just like to add...

Indeed, which means he joined when they had the £1/2 million of backers money, got paid some of that for "consultancy", got paid some more for producing firmware that apparently doesn't work and is 25% responsible for the 2 year delay.

You know Mrsic-Flogel is the "CTO" of both projects?

Re: My next prediction - that Psion-revamp thing will similarly tank.

Don't forget, RCL also put out photos of Vega+'s being assembled.

They turned out to be a batch of prototypes which didn't work particularly well, but were paraded around for a year by people like World of Spectrum "owner" Lee Fogarty and self-proclaimed "most prolific ZX Spectrum developer" Jonathan Cauldwell as "proof" this wasn't a scam.

Months late, unaudited: ZX Spectrum reboot firm files accounts

Re: Accounts?

"Current Assets" are not just ready cash but also anything that can readily be converted into cash in the next 12 months such as stock, debts and especially the forthcoming Indiegogo payment.

It might be misleading, but that may be the intention when the former directors are saying the reason for the split was down to the dire financial situation they were in.

ZX Spectrum Vega Plus backers complain of months-long refund delays

Re: Given that a crowdfunding is an investment...

The credit card companies and Paypal are viewing it as failure to deliver. It seems that as they have given multiple failed delivery dates it changed the deal from being an "idea" to a tangible product.

Sinclair ZX Vega+

Potential backers of this should be aware that Dr Mrsic-Flogel is also a director of Retro Computers Ltd.

Indiegogo closed their campaign less than a week ago because of their failure to deliver the ZX Vega+ which is now five months late having taken over £500,000. They are now refusing to respond to backers questions and refund requests.

Whether Indiegogo know or even care about this connection is unknown.
