Re: Do no evil?

If SnOracle had so many great ideas stolen by Google, where is a comparable product? where is the mobile OS? If anything Google is guilty of making a remix, and Micro$oft has done that a few times. No problem, right? I know that is oversimplifying a bit, but at least Apple actually has some working hardware & software to compare to. Should it be a crime to copy a style? (such as Samsung did) This whole debate seems largely philosophical now.

Re: Shuttle speeds in similar position?

a quick check of wikipedia says this about reentry: "The vehicle started encountering more significant air density in the lower thermosphere at about 400,000 ft (120 km), at around Mach 25..." But that was while drastically slowing down, unlike the DARPA thing which continued to haul ass for a while.

can't see any benefit for trying to have as many people as possible on this planet? Easy; colonization of those nearby 100 earth-like planets without a serious genetic bottleneck. We're going to need alot of people to throw at that challenge someday. Especially if we are to overpopulate the natives, assuming there are any.

Bill Neal

Re: Sir

Why do so many people wrongly assume the "consensus" is unanimous? I mean even if we accept that we impact this planet in many ways, there is no universally accepted method of how to control the weather, or if nature can/will right itself as it has many times before humans existed. There is still a debate and the data gathering continues to clear our understanding. Why do so many people insist on assuming the hypothesis is correct before the result is known? That is not science. If you are not questioning the information being fed to you, then climatology may as well be scientology.

Medieval warming was global – new science contradicts IPCC

Bill Neal
Alert

Re: Seriously

CFC's were phased out & replaced by HCFC's, which still deplete ozone (just not near as much). Now we are phasing those out for HFC's which have no reaction with ozone, but they are greenhouse gasses. All of these are heavier than air, which begs the question: how do they effect the upper atmosphere? BTW CFC's are much more efficient refrigerants, which would save electricity and material consumption if they were used again in modern equipment.
