Some Windows 10 Anniversary Update: SSD freeze

Re: Leaving Microsoft

Although I agree it may be better for the student not to be forced to re-learn the industry standard application, nonetheless those that cannot adopt new tools under the same fundamental concepts of the software are doom to fail.

In a few years in time, autocad alternative software will exist. In a few years in time, flash will be replace by html5 on web. In a few years in time, Photoshop will have competition for alternatives. In fact, those examples are already happening.

However, the fundamental concepts of the software remind the same. Whether it is vector drawing, scripting or pixel altering.

As long as, they are taught the concept not the procedure, they can adopt. Just like the fishing rod, if you teach them how to use a fishing rod to fish, they will only know how to fish with a fishing rod. If you teach them the concept of fishing equipment, they will know how to adopt better tools and better strategics to fish.

And for art students, if they can't do a minor photoshopping with ms paint, I consider their study incomplete. There will come one day those artists arrive with the required software missing and a deadline ahead. It will be up to them to adopt to a solution.

Verizon fingered in Android bloatware-for-cash cram scandal

Re: Meh.

Some of you or like most of the world's population like you will not remove the pre-installed apps. In fact, the average Joes properly do not even know there are apps for productivity. Bloatware? Free Ads popup? Random App recommendation? Part of the experience.

bundled (I am sure you know most android comes with bundled bloatware right?) or not, typical user aren't going to see the differences.

The Power Droid users, on the other hand, immediately uninstall it to remove the disadvantage of unwanted pop-up, unwanted internet access, unwanted bugs, unwanted hacks, and the important of them all to 'save battery'. With a correct configured phone, it can last close to 2 days without charging, compare to those with pre-installed apps that last only maximum 8hrs without doing anything.

FACT: Apps are like software, which will use power when there are commands to be called. They can use power when clicked on, triggered and even get called passive in the background. Unwanted apps are the main reason smart phone use up their battery faster than previous bar phones.

I mean, who doesn't want to 'choose' for more battery, longer music listening, slightly longer gaming time, longer time to finish typing the email or use the last drop of battery before the gps gave up in the mountain?

Not to mention, it doesn't take a power user to uninstall an app. Go to all apps, click and hold on the app, drag it to trash, confirm uninstall, bam battery saved.

Russia tells Google to cough up some loose change in Android monopoly probe

What Forced?

Google didn't force android to have google services (unless it is nexus device), the manufacturers did. The manufacturers can pick not to have google services, but they chose and followed Google's guidelines.

I have had own android device that came off shelf with only play store and nothing else, no youtube, no chrome, no google plus, no google map, none.

This is not Microsoft Windows where everything is closed source. Android is open source and most manufacturers apply their own "android-based" OS. That's right, google do not control all androids. They patch android source, but they have no control in terms of who will update android or will have play store. The manufacturers choose it not google.

Heck if you want to, you can download the play store apk to install it, disable it from the settings, or uninstall it by patching it with root or with a modded rom.

Even the open source Linux has a distro with apps store (Ubuntu apps?) that if you don't want it you can fork your own Linux without it, uninstall it or use another distro without it.

The manufacturers should be the ones that are being sued, not google. I'm not a google fan, but this is not closed source Microsoft Windows, but open source android. Google really needs to appeal this case.
