I know that you hate the man, but please put Trumps comments in the context of the speeach.
First a quick background:
From USA Today: https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2018/05/17/ms-13-donald-trump-gang-violence-animals-immigrants-media-column/621537002/
“Street gang MS-13, infamous for vicious machete killings, is first to be declared an international criminal group.” That’s a headline from the Daily Mail in 2012.
“The gratuitous acts of violence these now-convicted gang members committed were intended to spread fear.” That’s a description from acting U.S. Attorney John Horn about a 2015 murder conviction in Georgia.
“Video of the mutilated bodies was sent to a girlfriend of one of the victims.” “She was walking home one evening with Nisa, a basketball teammate one day shy of her 16th birthday, when MS-13 members spotted them and attacked with a machete and baseball bats.” “A large butcher knife, a bloodstained baseball hat and three 9mm handguns were also found in the car.”
Those are all different incidents. All MS-13.
Trumps Comments: From https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/remarks-president-trump-california-sanctuary-state-roundtable/
SHERIFF MIMS: Thank you. There could be an MS-13 member I know about — if they don’t reach a certain threshold, I cannot tell ICE about it.
THE PRESIDENT: We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in — and we’re stopping a lot of them — but we’re taking people out of the country. You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people. These are animals. And we’re taking them out of the country at a level and at a rate that’s never happened before. And because of the weak laws, they come in fast, we get them, we release them, we get them again, we bring them out. It’s crazy.
MS13 is not what I want in my neighborhood. For that matter neither is Trump- security would be hellish. The problem precedes President and will exist long after he in no longer president. But that doesn't mean that they should be unopposed by the legal community.
Other than executions, nothing a government does is permanent. Not even the US Constitution - it has been amended 27 times. Laws are much easier to amend or revoke or rewrite. Congress could, if it so chooses, change the way debt is scored by the CBO, or simply pass a bill stating that the same tax cuts just issued will be passed again every year to keep those tax cuts "permanent". For another 10 years. Likewise Congress and President can(and will) change tax laws for corporations.
Just who is wealthy? And how does wealth figure into income tax? Is an individual making 250,000 per annum a high earner? Or 10,000,000? A sports figure such as a footballer may make a tidy sum while playing for the few years that they play but then that income evaporates afterwards. It is times like these that I miss Tim Worstall for information and analysis that makes me think. I may not agree or start yelling and disturb the cats, but he does make me think.
If so, a few thousand or more requests should tie up DeepMind for an hour or two.
Would not the Trust having a small DeepMind datacentre on premises mitigate this issue? If the data cannot be taken off of Trust premises and therefore not able to be de-anonymised by DeepMind the Trust would be more trustworthy. I refuse to accord DeepMind or any other Google related entity.

doesn't the placement of explosives make a difference to the results? I would think that an explosive device placed against the fuselage of the pressurised cabin would be more damaging than one placed in an unpressurised hold, most likely not against the fuselage.
Now, fire away and tell me how I don't know anythiing about explosives, airplanes, cabin pressurisation, price of tea in China.
I need to bring a friend up to the latest clotting edge of OS technology. Years ago I got him to buy a used HP xw9300 workstation. It is monstrous but still running well, but time marches on. In the past I have seen commentards suggest Mint, but I don't know if that is still appropriate. So, any suggestions will be appreciated. My UNIX is quite rusty, its been 15 years ago since I touched it, so install needs to be fairly simple as I am 300 miles away from him and would be doing this over the phone.
Any ideas?
Cricket is also played in the Philadelphia area. Haverford college has a cricket team and there is the Merion Cricket Club practically across the street(but only after grass court tennis season).
Rock salt is another favorite for non-lethal force and would probably also take out a drone and certainly deters intruders, especially if doped with formic acid salts.
Northern climes can have exceptionally clear skies, as any skier knows. Always had to wear goggles to prevent snow glare, up until they fogged over. Then I had to stop until I cleaned the goggles. It always made things interesting on black diamond sloopes.

Worse: Cruz vs Bernie

Majority of what? All voters, just the ones who voted, jst the ones who did not have their voting rights not denied, all voters who voted and were legally entitled to vote? Just those who voted on paper ballots, or online, or or or. Election reform should start with all votes in a Presidental Election being cast on the same type of system, with a fully auditable record, with randomn audits of entire precincts, full audits of precincts that have outlier characteristics. And much much more.
Elections without truly free speech are a sham. Should an individual care about a single issue enough to spend a great deal or small deal of money on trying to raise public awareness of it they should be allowed to.
By the way, it is a REPRESENTATIVE democracy. It even says it on the tin.
This project kickoff document outlines who does what on the macro-governmental scale. Each department will produce documents of what each systems vulnerabilites are and how they are going to be remediated. Given that President Trump does have expertise in dealing with the interlocking dependencies of the construction of large buildings, he is identifying issues and tasking individuals and departments with producing project plans that will guide the way forward.
Given the strength of feelings on this topic I am impressed(and somewhat surprised) by the lack of ad hominum attacks despite the passions of the commentards. Lately I have been searching for a site where discussion and analysis of sources(their limitations and strengths) are presented. There must be many who, like me, want to see the various positions that people hold on an issue, and the data/evidence(original and available sources) used to buttress the positions.
Many issues have at the source of discord a dichotomy in the meaning of the words used in the arguments. Conservative/liberal/leftist/fundi/put your favorrite term here are insufficient to correctly describe the groups and individuals under discussion. For instance, I may e a fiscal conservative social moderate who believes in getting a higher ROI from the goivernmental agencies. What is the word that describes that position.
If anyone kknows of such a forum/site please let me/us know.
@DougS
Do not forget that Michigan's vote recount rules only allow recounts when the number of ballots in the ballot box equals the number of votes tallied by the voting machine. Approx. one-third of the districts in Wayne County (Detroit) could not be recounted.
As neither a staunch Republican or Democrat ( Independent in the sense that I switch parties in the primaries to try to influence the results for a candidate I like or against a candidate I don't) Wayne County is predominantly Democratic. And local politicians do control the voting districts, de facto not de juro.
I do believe that all voting machines need to haver a paper record. And even more importantly, the results of the elections should be audited in each precinct in each state. Thie audit cannnot be done in time to affect the Electoral College ( it is hard enough to get a simple recount done in that time period) so that the entire voting system can be improved.
It is important to fix the voting process, starting with having standardised voting machines that have been audited by many different parties to ensure that votes will be counted consistently across the USA. There are many other parts of the voting process that need to be addresses but this would be a good start.
If you looked to the source documents you would have found this:
Want to Know if the Election was Hacked? Look at the Ballots
You may have read at NYMag that I’ve been in discussions with the Clinton campaign about whether it might wish to seek recounts in critical states. That article, which includes somebody else’s description of my views, incorrectly describes the reasons manually checking ballots is an essential security safeguard (and includes some incorrect numbers, to boot). Let me set the record straight about what I and other leading election security experts have actually been saying to the campaign and everyone else who’s willing to listen.
So you might want to reconsider your statement.
If anyone here has had experience with getting FDA approval for medical devices I would appreciate comments from them. I have experience in FDA submissions for drugs and they can be very frustrating to deal with in terms of making any changes in any aspect of the drug approval and production process. If one looks at the baby step approach that Medtronic has used in adding features to its insulin pimp line, it should be obvious that making wholesale changes to a device is time-consuming and expensive. I use a Medtronic 530g insulin pump with the CGM(continuous glucose monitor). The sensor communicates to the pump via radio. The pump and glucose meter also communicate with each other in the same fashiom. I am in far more danger of mis-entering blood glucose values manually than I am from someone trying to cause me harm by hacking my pump. These systems are low-poower systems. The pump runs on a single AAA battery which lasts about two weeks with vibration mode on. The transmitter lasts about two weeks also before being recharged but as the sensors only last six days, I recharge the transmitter each time I change a sensor. When the sensor and pump are on opposite sides of my body, communication stops. In order to have decent encryption you need a decently powered CPU which these insulin pumps don't have. Yes, you could design an entirely new pump with a "modern" CPU but then the entire unit(pump, meter, remote control, CGM transmitter) would have to be validated by the FDA. Here in the US the new versions of the pumps are available 12 - 18 months after they are in UK/EU. And that is for each of those baby step improvements.
If a patient is worried about someone hacking their pump(I'm not) or remebering when the gave themselves their last bolus(I am) then it is simple to look at either the bolus history or amount of active insulin on the pump.
Finally, new drugs are launched without having hundreds of thousands of test subjects, and yes, people do die from new drugs, drug interactions, and drug allergies. It is a risk-benefit analysis. I use my pump because it works for me, far better than multiple daily injections. I would say that it is far more hazardous to be driving a car either in the US, EU, or on some of those tiny hedge roads in the UK.
I was trying to rent an apt/flat years ago and the landlord call a dear friend of mine who had agreed to be a reference. He caught her in the middle of an experiment she was doing(using a fair amount radioactive iodine) and said "Well, he's not a serial killer". I still got the apt/flat.
"Maybe he could be kept around for amusement after the election - make him foreign secretary or something."
Or ambassador to Great Britain. Be careful what you wish for, as they say.
If he becomes President he might make Michael Savage Ambassador to Great Britain.
Here is the constitutional definition of treason:
Section 3.
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted.
Analysis of Trumps statement:
Levying war - no.
Adhering to their enemies - no.
Giving them aid and comfort - no.
Answer to your question - no.
"the fact that Police seem to kill with impunity" If there was impunity then would not there be far more cases of this. What is the the number of police/public interactions that occur each year, and how many end up in death? I would submit that the non-lethal cases far outway the lethal ones.
Folks, we are all suppossed to have reasonable intelligences on this website, but you are all sounding like Foxnews/Guardians commenters.
One a side note to DavCrav, thank you for using your handle. There are far too many Anonymous POS who are too afraid to be connected in any way to the hate and drivel that they spew.
Worked in Philadelphia when it happened. There was a house full of Africas. I do forget the name of the group but all had taken the last name "Africa". House had been fitted out like a fortress. Water cannons were used to try to enter the house. It didn't work. Police dropped "an explosive device" on the house, but those inside had filled the house with cans of gasoline. Then everything went to hell.
Ten officers shot at Dallas protest against police shootings

MD Rackham, from your comments I would assume that you would be ecstatic about this
How many of those 506 were shooting at either the cops or soomeone else? We just had a case where a 22yo female police oficer responded to a 911 call. Several people started/were shooting at each other, she shot and killed one of the shooters. The rest ran off. For doing her duty(stopping the BAD guys) she was then attacked by the rest of the Fathers Day revelers.(Syracuse, NY)
The man she shot WAS armed. So, is he counted as one of the 506?
Next Question: How many young black men have been killed in Chicago by other young black men(non-police)?
Last Question: Do you think that police should not enter hazardous situations(even traffic stops CAN be hazardous) and let things be what they may?
Just a little food for thought.
