A society where beggars have bank accounts and carry card reading machines? Sure, we are going to fix poverty sometime soon and create a fair and just society. In the meantime there are encampments of homeless people- communities within the community, in every UK city. Or do we just ignore abject poverty?

Ofcom creates watchdog specifically to make sure Openreach is behaving
I had a recent broadband land line connection. I was a bit puzzled when the visiting engineer introduced himself as being from BT. A few moments later matters were clarified- he meant Openreach. But IT IS BT and clearly its employees think of it as BT. I tried to free myself of Virgin Media's exploitive pricing a couple of years ago by changing to a non- BT service but Openreach left me hanging and my new supplier could do nothing. I think this was deliberate. Openreach do not communicate directly with lowly end users either so I was stuffed.

Re: "We sent out an information message"
If there's a paid return envelope use that, mark it "junk mail return" and stuff it with anything else you can find to get the weight up. With Raddled Old Whore (sorry "Virgin" Media) , I would almost be tempted to add a dollop of excreta but this is illegal and unfair to staff who probably get enough metaphorical shit dumped on them already.

And they abuse the elderly too.
My blind and deaf mum, nearly 90, frail, alone (husband in hospital) and isolated ( rural,no bus service) was left two winter months without a phone when Talktalk's already patchy "service" went tits-up altogether. When finally restored I had to fight the CEO tooth-and-nail for both refund and "compensation" of (wait for it) 25 quid. Any decent organisation would have waived fees for a year and sent a bunch of flowers. Not Talktalk. Talktalk is cheapcheap. Cheapcheap and very, very nasty. Just like its uncaring elder- abusing CEO.
