they need a Home grown OS, AOSP is too influenced by google, and Xi's Technology strategy revolves around maximising the internal market and developing home grown options.
most CCP mobile companys use a custom Distro of AOSP
BBK(Vivo,OPPO,OnePlus) use Funtouch OS, ColorOS, OxygenOS
Xiaomi use MIUI
f HarmonyOS is truly in house and works, it will be the first, homegrown, and the others will be politley requested to skin the HOSP
Tizen is far from dead, the widley regarded best smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch range run on it.
Its hyper low power and pretty functional, unlike the iWatch or any of the WearOS POC they dont need to be charged daily (manage a week with mine) and they beat out most of them on features and flexibility.
Oracle,IBM, Hitachi, GCP, AWS and Azure all responded to the JEDI RFP
GCP pulled out, as they couldnt meet the requirements cost effectivley
Hitachi got ejected in round 1
Oracle and IBM got ejected in round 2 due to not being able to fullfill the whole contract
AWS and MS got shortlisted,
DoD went back to the pair over the details, and requested MS beefed up some areas of theirs, they decided not to,
AWS was the only bidder to meet all the requirements and was about to be awarded the contract, untill Trump stuck his oar in.
Mark Esper announced he would review the process before it was awarded, then with his son working for IBM, had to recuse himself
his deputy under pressure from POTUS said there were some issues with how the latter rounds were performed or something like that and went back to the initial Proposals, and awarded to MS, as their bid was cheaper (but their bid didnt fullfill all the requirements.)
Oracle and IBM filed Suit based on the Open door between AWS and DoD, which they recon gave AWS more influence over the process, but this was thrown out all the way up the courts.
AWS filed their suit afterthe review awarded the contract to MS, stating that MS's bid did not meet the requirements, so they should not have been awarded the contract. Based on the briefs from both sides, the court granted Amazon an injuction to stop MS starting work untill the case was settled.
IMHO, the lot of them are shady SOBs and the only ones making money off this are lawyers.
However, the only bid to fully meet DoDs requirements was Amazon's and it should have won
However as Cheeto-in-chief hates Jeff, his dusty fingers are all over the award to his mate SatNad
Get it right
RFQ was sent out AWS, MS, and Oracle/IBM submitted bids
IBM/Oracle as a multi vendor bid was rejected (Larry spit his dummy and sued)
MS didnt like the clarifications and pulled from the competition, leaving only the AWS bid standing
DoD annouced AWS won, POTUS forced DoD into a review of the process
MS were then announced as winner (even though they pulled out)
AWS the sued saying MS doesnt meet the requirements and they should have won as the only viable bidder.
This happens in the US, you just dont read about it, as The citizens of CCP are not allowed to read of the overstepping of their leaders.
FISA Section 702
CLOUD Act
The continued lack of National legislation on privacy and the directives concerning promoting data sharing between agencies and departments.....
Retail actually have considerable costs to justify their markup,
hosting the app store and assessing the apps do not even compare to Staffing, premises, distribution, etc. that retail have.
best comparrison is probably online market places or payment processors:
Amazon Marketplace charge 15% ish
Ebay is about 12% once you tak into account the fixed fees
Payment providers are between 2% and 7%
I suspect the outcome will probably force A and G to at least half their cut and maybe further for "as Currency" items
The reason microsoft got hit for the IE thing was using their dominance in OS to push their Browser.
Apple's market share in more devleoped nations is considerably larger than 20%
(India skews the average, being 92% android and only 4% iOS- with 813 million mobile users)
in the US Apple have a 60% market share, in the uk its closer to 50%
Under UK Law the definition of a monopoly is 25% market share in the US Federal Law, its the less defined "significant and durable market power"
IMHO, Apple dont have a leg to stand on they have a monopoly and cant justify the commision rates as costs + reasonable profit.
Google have a few legs, but still its an effective monopoly and the commision rates are THE SAME
the fees and percentages for dominant app stores on both iOS and Android are the same.
Google Play charges the same 30% on one offs and 30% 1st year and 15% therafter on subscriptions
They are both taking the piss, the difference is if you want an app on iOS you have to use the AppStore, on Android, there are other options (GalaxyApps, AmazonStore, APKPure, Aptoide, F-Droid,QooApp,Yalp Store,....)
Apple and Google are making Like microsoft with IE, by using their dominance in the OS market to give them dominance in the app store market (all iOS phones have AppStore pre-loaded and set as default, All Google supported Android have the PlayStore installed and set-as default.)
Alibaba is ahead of Amazon as a retailer, but behind it in Cloud
The problem for Ali is Cloud services should be high margin, and is where Amazon is making most of its profits
The only reason I see for them not making money in cloud, especially in the APAC region, is that they are having to grow fast to keep up with demand
Why as a collective do the americans not understand the freedoms that the constitution gives them.
Freedom of speech, allows you to say it, it doesnt prevent someone else fro, offering a different more reasoned and more factually supported opinion against it.
IE you have the right to say anything you like, others have the right to say your wrong
changes happend in about 2014 when the grand plan of Andrew lansley's Health and social care act came into force.
The NHS as a whole was breaking even, and evn had reserves to deal with a crisis. Once the HSCA kicked in the entire system fragmented, costs went up and outcomes went down.
Just like all the decisions of this Johnson government, and everything since and including Cameron's resignation.
If this is suposed to rival the german or any other set-up, it needs to be run by emenent Scientists and or public health experts.
Germany's Robert Koch Institute (RKI) is run by Prof. Dr. Lothar H. Wieler one of the worlds foremost experts on zoonotic diseases (infections that are passed between animals and humans, like SARS-CoV-2) and Prof. Dr. med. Lars Schaade and expert in microbiology and epidemiology
Korea's CDCP is run by Dr. Jung Eun-kyeong who is qualifed in both preventative medicine and Public Health
Taiwan;s CDC is run Dr. JIH-HAW CHOU who is qualified in Public health and Epidemiolgy (and also a dentist)
Danemark's Statens Serum Institut (SSI) is run by a board of highly qualified Scientists and Public Health professionals
Putting Dame Dido Of CantTalk in charge and expecting similar results is ludacrus
I would argue Boris has done a worse, if not just as bad a job, if you look at the relative size of the country until peru spiked recently and depending on which of the 3 "Offical" deaths figures you use (ONS,NHS-old,NHS-new) then the UK has had more deaths per population than everyone else.
61.93 per 100k (as of yesterdays official figures) compared to USA 52.48, Irish 35.93 and German 11.10
while the test positivity rate has recovered from its early high, the infection morbity rate(deaths/cases) is still at 12.96% when the baseline rate is somewhere around 3% so there are a lot of cases that have happened without being detected.
Treatment of snowden by previous regiemes is considerably better than trumps treatment of supposedly his own people:

Letter from UK.Gov to AUS.gov
Here in IT for gov.uk we make mistakes for others to learn from:
We are saddened to find that our Five Eyes brothers on the far side of the world failed to take heed of our demonstration within the NHS mail system back in november 2016 and failed to apply the lessons we should have learned.
Kind regards

depends on how often its used, 200-300 flight hours for an A check, so from 8d8h if its in continuous use or over 28 days if its on less than half duty...
but to do the update you need to make sure the floppy is in the right place at the right time....
They're both as bad as each other
both require use of their payment platform (if you wnat to be in their store)
both take 30% for one off purchases
both take 30% for 1st year of subscriptions and 15% there after
both are members of a cartell to flece joe public (as app-developers pass on the cost)
The only difference i can see, is in Android, you have the option to not use google play, in iOS you dont
isnt this just the equivalent of The Network and Information Systems Regulations that just went into force in the UK
based on the directive on security of network and information systems agreed by the EU
so basically CNI are required to protect their systems and there is a structure for mutual, governmental and global aid in the event of an incident.
Troy said he came to realise that a large percentage of the value in HIBP was the trust the community put in him specifically.
From the detail he puts into his blog posts about every change he makes and to explain why he has made each decision, and the fact he is still running this in his spare time on a not-for-profit like basis, combine to increase that level of trust.
