Openreach appoints former TUC head to independent board

blackhat

'open', maybe, 'reach',poor !

Openreach must be split away from the BT monopoly conglomerate so it can be judged as a stand-alone-consumer-service. Its simply about all that technology being managed for the benefit of individual customers and currently thats not the case. Generally, the internet strength is better in France for instance. Openreach can get away with investing less in the UK because it is practically a monopoly. The UK needs (now more than ever) the fastest wireless service right across the country. Btw, how is a trade union congress guy going to deliver better customer service ?

Barnet Council: Outsourcing deal with Capita has 'performance issues'

Re: It's Barnet council that has "performnace issues"

depressingly i think you're right.... the guiding principal amongst local govt managers, seems to be one of reducing any/all services that require/demand any kind of human interaction. We must now get our answers from the less-than-smart, prescriptive website. Which of course is no answer at all. Elderly people etc are disregarded as long as the bureaucrats remain in position on their index linked salaries.

don't trust em...

All politicians (when they get into power) want to limit the spread of information that contradicts whatever current 'truth' they are espousing . They want ultimate control over journalists, not because they (politicians) want to do overtly bad things, its just they actually and fervently believe, they know best for us. Therein lies the huge danger of any kind of control by Govt or any bureaucracy on the information that gets through to the public. Better to have a few maverick journo's (phone tapping etc) than the nightmare of state controlled information.
