I think I've failed that test - many, many, many times. That's probably why we have seven cats (age range - 12 years to 1 year. Youngest cat was (at this time last year) a two-month old stray living in a friends garden. Now spends a lot of time sleeping next to the radiator..)

Some time ago, our marketing team wanted a whole slew of twitter/FB/LinkedIn/etc etc buttons added to the bottom of every outgoing email. Even if we were willing to do that (email is a 7-bit ASCII mechanism dammit!) we managed to come up with a (cough) valid technical reason why not - the increase in file size.
The average email size (without attachments) was about 6K bytes. Once the buttons and associated JS were added, it balooned up to 200K.
We pointed this out to Marketing and let them know that increased costs in bandwidth and storage would be charged to them. Mysteriously, the request was withdrawn thereafter.

I was going to go for a OP6 but got put off by the price (I had a OP3 before). I ended up getting an Honor 10 - I use Nova Launcher so don't really care about the look and feel of EMUI.
The one thing that does bug me about the H10 is that it keeps popping up notification about the Huawei Cloud. The date I get an account there[1] is about the same as the heat-death of the universe..
[1] Needing an account on one mass-intrusive entity (Google) is bad enough. If the iPhones were more reasonable in price for a new-ish one I'd go back to Apple.

If an interloper cat is deranged enough to enter One (or more) of the resident cats will either have their wicked way with the interloper* and / or rip it to shreds.
Sadly, our two males are getting too old for this[1]. However, since Junior Female has reached the age of 1, intrusions by strange cats[2] has decreased noticably..
[1] Senior male cat was never too interested in fighting - he made friends with every cat[2] around and simply couldn't be bothered. Junior male (the ginger of very little brain) saw what bosscat was doing and did likewise. Away from the house however, he was perfectly up for a scrap. But he too is getting a bit old for that.
[2] We have a neighbour who has a number of cats, including an intact male[3] that she neglected to neuter. Since un-neutered males are the top of the cat social ladder, our neutered males won't stand up to him. However, female cats generally don't worry about male social standing and so our senior and junior female cats[4] are both prepared to shred him whenever they see him.
[3] Said un-neutered male has decided to become a stray. As I've said before, cats simply won't stay somewhere where they are not happy (or at least, not if given the option to leave).
[4] Oddly, both black cats. Senior is 7.5kg, junior (being only a year old) is 2.5kg. But still prepared to lay down the law if required.

[1] We have one. In D&D terms, his prime stats are Str & Cha and his dump stats are Int and Wis. He's the one that's addicted to my earwax.. (which if not offered on the tip of my finger is quite happy to slobber in my ears. This seems to be a male cat thing, none of our female cats will touch it but the older male cat[2] will. And they won't accept earwax from anyone not related to me - they will take earwax from my nephew, but not my wife).

One of our cats (the autistic calico one) will use the usual location of the cat tray whether it's there or not[1]. And (if it's not) will still scrape at the carpet, trying in vain to cover over what she's just.. deposited.
We tried putting a plastic cover there permanently so that at least the stuff would stay on the plastic until we could clean it up but her claws are sharp enough to penetrate most flexible plastics and so the liquids just ended up seeping through un-noticed.
[1] Every so often we take it away to give it a good clean[2]. As in 'boiling water with detergent[3]' cleaning, followed by rinsing with lots of fresh water. And, of course, that seems to be the time that her digestive system really, really has to lighten itself..
[2] Even using good wood-pellet[4] cat litter, the urine smell builds up over time. And she won't use the tray if it smells of anything other than wood-pellet cat litter and cat waste.
[3] See above. We tried bleach - she refused to use the tray (and we had to replace it). We tried the various things like nilodour that claim to take away smells - she won't use the tray. The above is the only thing that will both clean the tray and ensure that she uses it afterwards.
[4] Her siblings went o other people - one of whom came cabk to us to say that they wouldn't use the cat trays. We gave them some of the wood pellet cat litter and the cats started to use the tray properly. So that whole brood may be somewhat autistic. Our *hates* change - even moving her favourite bed slightly will mean she won't use it. And, when she wants to go out, she insists on *me* opening the cat door[5] - if my wife tries, the cat won't go out.
[5] Another of her oddities - she'll come *in* the cat door, but refuses[6] to go out unless I open it for her.
[6] She did use it of her own accord one - but that was because she was being chased by an interloper male cat. Who was being chased by our dog..

[1] Many years ago we used to get it on one of the random channels on Swindon Cable. And, when they dropped it, via VHS tapes.. It's now on NHK HD as a nightly half-hour highlight programme whenever there's a basho on.

Your point is somewhat damaged by:
1. Including Cisco in this (they were not part of the Bloomburg 'story')
2. Suggesting that Apple co-operate with the NSA and pre-backdoor their devices. Given that they stood firm against the FBI when requested that they do just that, it's less believable that they would roll over for the NSA..

(My thoughts on this lie with SuperMicro/Apple/Amazon being correct - Bloomburg/Business Insider are bottom feeders and pretty much scrape any 'sensational' news they can without bothering to test veracity. After all, doing *actual* pre-publication fact-checking would mean someone else might publish it first and get all those ad-revenue-generating clicks!)

And it's by no means limited to the US - look at Myanmar and the refugees or India and the huge surge in killings based on fake news spread by FB and/or Messenger.
In short, give fanatics of any stripe an easy (and cheap) propaganda platform and they'll use it, regardless of the consequence to the targets of their bile. Human nature sucks.
(This doesn't absolve FB/Google of the blame for aiding this and placing their income/share price over the cost to people and society)

You obviously don't have cats.. (or do have cats that don't have a problem informing you, loudly and often, when the food level drops below 25%).
In our multi-cat household we have 4 that (mostly) eat only kibble[1] and 3 that eat mostly cat[2] meat (although will eat biscuits as well since they are available). The meat only gets given them in the kitchen, but we have two large bowls of kibble upstairs for the more shy cats.
[1] Expensive stuff (for sensitive stomachs) - two of our cats were very, very ill when they came to us as rescues (green runny stuff coming out of the backsides of a 8-month old mother cat and her five three-week old kittens in never a good sign - especially when the mother isn't cleaning the kittens. One kitten died within a day or so but the other 4 survived. We ended up keeping the mother cat[3] and one of her kittens[4]). They were left with very sensitive stomachs and so need specific foods to stop them being ill again.
[2] And not cheap tinned stuff - certainly not! Which means bulk buying of pouches when on special offer in the local supermarkets. Several of them do supplement their diets with warm, fresh meat.. And then insist of telling us about it, at high volume, at 3am..
[3] Which really, really didn't impress our senior female cat since the mother cat was (theoretically) above her in the pecking order. Even after the mother-cat was spayed, she still had to give boss-female a wide berth..
[4] Naturally, the one that the mother-cat liked the least. The one who, if cats had autism, would be diagnosed as somewhere on the spectrum. She's a remarkably pretty calico cat though (to go with our remarkably pretty tortie).

That's another thing that used to annoy me about vinyl - different industries used different grades of vinyl which had a considerable effect on quality of sound and longevity.
It didn't really matter that singles used the cheapest grade since they were short-lived but some record companies also used that grade for albums which, theoretically, should have a longer life.
Many of them are better (or at least more authentic)
I never ever got the fetish for vinyl - I hated it at the time (no matter how good your setup was, the sound quality inevitably degraded when you played the record and you had to be really, really careful about how you stored the records[1]) and I still hate it.
Yes, the remastered versions are often not as 'authentic' as the old records but to my mind that can sometimes be a benefit. Especially when 'authentic' means a crackle-laden mushy sound and several skips during the song... Which might not matter so much on craptastic pop tunes but very much does on prog songs - especially longer ones.
[1] Which is why I used to play the records as little as possible - once to make sure it was OK and then a second time to record to tape[2]. And only thereafter if I needed to re-do the tape.
[2] Which was itself a degradation on sound, even on metal tapes with a good tape deck and Dolby.

Several boxes of misc hardware - 3com network cards, various SCSI 1 and 2 cards, sound cards, and (maybe) a Voodoo graphics card as well as a couple of ISDN cards.
Several bits of Sun hardware - Sparc 1 and Sparcstation 5 bit as well as SCSI cables and drives (100 Megabytes! Ohh the space!).
A Sun 17" CRT monitor - still in use on the odd time I need to see the console of my virtualisation server.
Various piles of old drives (mostly non-working of so small to be of no practical use).
Pretty much all the mobile phones I've ever bought from an old T-Moble M2 (Windows CE) to a Palm Treo (PalmOS) to a OnePlus 3. All in pretty mint condition.
A Nokia 770 and 800 and an Apple Newton - again, all still working..
I keep meaning to sell it on Fleabay but can't actually get the energy to do it.

My 2011 Macbook Pro is still very much up and working (with upgraded SSD drive & RAM - it had the motherboard replaced after about 5 years for free even though it was out of warranty).
It also weighs several tons and has a nice dent in the aluminium top where a (full, still with cork in) bottle of wine fell on it..
