I checked with my provider. I'm with Three UK, Meteor Ireland and Vodafone Ireland.

What exactly are you arguing here? Roaming EU to EU calls are out of your allowance (free) or at home rates (like calling a UK number whilst in the UK)....

No. When you are roaming in the EU, all calls to mobile and fixed numbers in the EU will be counted against your national volume of minutes (or will be unlimited if you have unlimited calls at home), exactly as if you were calling within your home country. If you have distinct so-called ‘on-net’ and ‘off-net’ volumes in your national bundle, all the roaming minutes may be all deducted from the off-net volume, and also when you call another subscriber of the same domestic operator while roaming.

Erm no.. Not quite true.

While roaming in the EU, ANY EU call you make (like in Spain to Germany) is taken from your allowances (or billed as a normal call - like at home - if you have no allowances).

I used to go to his shop in Twickenham to buy canoe paddles back in the early 90s. They did decent blades at good prices.

The Starwars thing at the time was fairly minor with just a couple of Storm Trooper helmets on display.

Ireland looks like it's outpacing Britain in the superfast broadband rollout stakes

It might come eventually...

Here in Ireland I used to have max 28Kb on a modem until 2009. Then we 'jumped' to 5Mb/384Kb internet on ADSL1 for years. Now thanks to exchanges going to eVDSL, a bit of ADSL2+ kit has become spare and been fitted into rural exchanges. I'm now rocking 10Mb/1Mb and it's another world.... ;-)

Everywhere with a blue line will get fibre by 2020 (they say). Those outside the blue lines will get 30Mbps min by 2022 by some means or other....

Supposedly they will be stringing fibre cables along the road outside my house with up to 1Gb speeds by 2020. If it happens, it'll be akin to some sorta modern day miracle. Might build a shine out front...

UK competition watchdog gripes to Brussels about Three-O2 merger

Three bought O2 in Ireland and it wasn't great...

Some O2 customers were mandatorily moved to a new Three tariff, losing perks and price plans that had been in place years. They also ended up paying more with useless Three customer service in India. In addition some O2 masts were decommissioned and others merged into Three's network, meaning that network coverage actually degraded for some - they lost the nearby O2 mast and were pushed onto an over subscribed 3G mast further away. Overall O2 customers generally got the rough end of the deal.

Add to that the MVNOs that used to mast share with O2 still have not been fully integrated into the Three network.

Since there was now one less mobile phone carrier Three then increased their prices while the regulator just stuffed the brown envelope in his pocket no doubt...

Bad news for the consumer really.

Great but...

How do you install the 32 Bit version to a netbook HDD without an OS, being as the installer needs to run from within Windows...

"NOTE: Currently, installation tool only supports Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10, with a minimum capacity of 8GB. Users of other operating systems, please install on USB flash drive."

As the netbook is USB 2.0 it runs like a dog off the key...

Fix that and I might revisit.

Ended up using Android-x86 5.1.1.-rc1 instead.

McAfee gaffe a quick AV kill for enterprising staff

Oh the joys

So VSE 8.8 Patch 7 doesn't install over Patch 6 without out 1st removing Patch 6. The upgrade just doesn't work - been here before... Seemingly also the new P7 version is stuck with DAT 1111 (even if the ePO extensions have been upgraded) and will not auto update to today's DAT.

I continue testing P7....

You're not. What *every* article about this fails to mention is that the checker isn't checking for these vuls yet...
