Bing fling sting: Apple dumps Microsoft search engine for Google

David T-Rex

Re: I wonder if Google is paying for that

Of course it's money. The fact Apple are trying to claim anything different is just lies. Google offered more than bing were.

If it was any other reason than money bing would never have been chosen in the first place.

Re: I don't get what the problem is...

So why is it OK for Apple to introduce non standard codes into the browser but Microsoft was rightly panned for doing the same thing.

Hypocrisy or just double standards.

Hi Amazon, Google, Apple we might tax you on revenue rather than profit – love, Europe

Re: equal taxation

You don't give up 45% of your earnings in tax. It's banded. You get your allowance taken off then you pay some at 20% then some at 40%. It's only once you hit 150k (after allowance has been deducted) that you pay 45% on earnings above 150k

Microsoft herds biz users to Windows 10 by denying support for Win 7 and 8 on new CPUs

David T-Rex

I don't think they are saying it wont run. They are saying it wont support the new features of the CPU and it will be up to the HW supplier to write any drivers needed for Win 7 & Win 8.x -MS wont do it.

Upset Microsoft stashes hard drive encryption keys in OneDrive cloud?

David T-Rex

My take on this is its better than nothing and if someone steals your hard disk they would not get access to the files - whereas if the hard disk was not encrypted in any way they would just need to plug it into another computer and everything would be available.

So in a sense some encryption is better than none as they would need both your account details (or the key) plus physical access to the disk - without both they cant get at the data. I am happy to be corrected on this if I am not correct.
