I wrote my master's using Wordstar on an early PC and was quite happy with it. It's my experiences a few years later using Word that I don't wish to repeat. (Best part of a minute just to start the program, getting random reverts because I had foolishly turned on quick save, etc.)

I have an 8TB Seagate shingled drive sitting on my desk right now. Definitely a consumer drive (~AU300) and definitely useful. I shoot a lot of HD video and I have no intention of losing it to a crash. Speed is perfectly adequate in that I haven't noticed my backup jobs to be significantly longer.

That part of the article is very badly worded

I assume the photons start to regain the lost energy once they pass the centre of the void. But by then 0.9 billion years have elapsed and the universe is less dense so they'll never recover it all. Hence the very slight cooling.
