Francis Boyle Silver badge

Not to worry

Although the problem of "an excessive amount" of email has been solved Microsoft will continue to deliver to you, your fair an appropriate amount of spam. Your penis pills are safe.

Re: Those pesky users, doing what *they* want to do

Reminds me of the time Microsoft thought it would be a good idea to create "all sorts of possible ways" to allow (obliviously responsible and well-intentioned) companies to control remotely control people's computers via the browser.

Re: On a related matter

"Value is what the market is prepared to pay".

Ordinarily, yes, but it's not, as is commonly insinuated, definitional. Sure investors and their advisors might not do better than chance but find one who'll admit that their decision aren't based on an understanding of market value. It's just that usually, their judgments are the only ones that happen to matter. In this case though, the court gets to decide. And whatever you might think of lawyers, in this case I'll side with them.

Historically in the UK, truth was a defence, but since the burden of proof was with the defendent it's a big strong to call it an absolute defence. I believe things have changed with the recent reform, though.

In most locations video makes no sense as you're targeting people on the move and in fact it may be dangerously distracting. Anything that makes video signage relatively less attractive is a good thing in my book.

The DH88 Comet racer was also a pretty good-looking aircraft. In fact pretty much all the de Havilland's of the inter-war years had a definite elegance about them. I'd nominate the DH88 Drafon Rapide as the best looking airliner of all time.

Except IP law was never designed to put a price on information*. And in any case how is that going to help the information poor i.e the people who actually stand to be out of work by Google's robots. It seems to me that Lanier is actually infected by the very techno utopianism he's made a career out of decrying.

Yes he's added the meaningless *contributions" in there as if that was going to fool anyone.
