Murder victim-mocking troll jailed

Ron Murray

I dunno ...

I think he has a point, actually. Why should it be a crime to offend someone? I don't think you can argue that anybody's suffered any material loss at the hands (fingers?) of this nitwit. They probably _feel_ worse, granted, but why on earth should we criminalise making people feel bad? Is this a new definition of thought crime?

If you still think offending people should be punished, think on this: where do you draw the line? Should there even be one?

Yes, this turkey is a grade-A arsehole, but if we were to make that a crime we'd have 80% of the population in the clink.

So if it worked they'd be all for it?

The point, you nitwit, is not that it won't work (although, of course, it won't). It's wrong because it's censorship. It's wrong because we're not even allowed to know what you're censoring. And it's wrong because we trust neither you nor the other lot to resist the temptation to suppress anything you find "inconvenient".

Glad I don't live in Australia any longer.

Don't panic

The (current) last entry in the Bugzilla page (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=549701) indicates that RSA have decided they own this one after all.

Phew. Wish they'd make up their minds.

A small number of users??

"Mono would be used by just a small number of users."

I don't know about that. I've been running Debian on several boxes for years, and I've spent quite a lot of time trying to get rid of Mono on all of them. I've never installed Tomboy, but it seems that every third innocent-looking package insists on installing Mono.

And that means spending half an hour removing every package that contains the string "mono" (and ignoring packages like monotone), after going through dependency hell first, trying to find and remove the packages that depend on them (and, before that, the packages that depend on _them_, etc. etc.).

I wish the thing would just go away. I refuse to have it on my machines.

It would help if Debian had a "do not install mono under any circumstances" switch.

No, there wasn't. Nor was there a 1, nor a 2, nor a 3, nor ......

0, had there been one, would have been in the Julian calendar, not the Gregorian. The Gregorian calendar was introduced at varying times depending on where you were, but never before the 1580's.

Twwetie?

Don't know about Tweetie, because I've not tried it. I have, however, had an app called "Twitter Trend" on my iPhone for several weeks now, and it displays, you guessed it, Twitter trends. And it's free.

Don't get too excited, though. Not only have I never seen the F word on it (although I must confess that I don't look at the app very often), not even the A word, but if you're looking for something interesting, you're going to be sadly disappointed. As i write, these are the top few entries on the "Hot" list:

NHS study produces ejector-seat ambulance design

Ron Murray

Helicopters again...

I had a feeling somebody might have invented something of the sort, where the blades are designed to be detached (somehow) before the ejector seat fires you through the space that (supposedly) used to be occupied by them.

Personally, I don't think I'd trust it. If I need to bang out of the thing, somebody's engineering has already failed me. Why should I trust them to get the rotor-blade-removal part right either?

I suppose I should point out that I've never flown in a heli-bloody-copter, never will. Don't trust the things.

The only thing sillier than an ejection seat in a helicopter was the original F-104 design, where it fired you out downwards. Fine if you're at 400000000 feet, but not a lot of use if the engine failed on takeoff.

This is just plain *wrong*

As an Australian (although not actually living there these days), I have to say I'm disappointed by the whole idea of such content blocking. Actually, "disappointed" doesn't quite cut it, but I'm at a loss for words for a change.

I've always been a Labor voter -- I come from a family of solid Labor voters -- but I wouldn't vote for them in a pink fit after this outrage. It appears that the party's been hijacked by an unholy alliance of Christian d**kheads, prudes, and just-plain-power-freaks.

I really wish there was something I could do.

Harry Lime?

> from Harry Lime to Jason Bourne.

Assuming you mean the Harry Lime from "The Third Man", the movie was produced in 1949, or so IMDB tells me. Graham Greene probably wrote the book well before that. Somehow I doubt that he was influenced by Danger Man.

Sorry to hear about Patrick, tho.
