"The undefined behaviour of the C and C++ languages has real-world effects such as mysterious crashes and other mysterious "behaviour"."
All C code I've ever written has had very well defined behaviour. (It's run by a computer, after all.)
Perhaps you meant "unwanted behaviour when making programming errors"?
Good programmers generally avoid those scenarios.
"Just look at what the EU do, like with Ukraine and covid. You really want to be a part of that?"
Yes.
BTW, If anyone is a massive moaner, it's you. And you're not even that old.
You think Brits are oh-so different and special? Get a grip.
Brits are only special ins their ability to cap-doff and suffer silently being trampled by their toff overlords. What a quality to have.
"BBC isn't state media - its a public service broadcaster independent of state control"
That's the theory. It's under party control (not "state control"), and the party is the Tory party. It's a defanged little poodle.
Look at the top brass and how they got their positions (and massive salaries that makes sure they are compliant).
Of course it pretends to be "impartial", but it's really very, very poor at examining power here in the UK.
"Come on, everyone, Why?"
Voting for cretins hell bent on making a quick buck for themselves, not giving a fig about normal people.
Adoring real estate investment as magic money makers.
Looking down on engineers and other makers willing to get their hands a bit dirty, while admiring nonsense spouting academics.
Feeling inferior to your "betters" thanks to the ingrained class society, but voting as if you were better than others.
Shall I go on?
"There are plenty of videos on Youtube on how to install Windows 11 on any PC."
Not watching a video. I assume it's some hack? Why would you want to do that?
Why would you want Win 11 in the first place? What does it bring that's new? (Rounded corners? No obvious way to enter Sleep from the login screen? Some more cosmetic changes?)
"AMD has one thing going for them - very pro-active troubleshooting and diving into"
That's because a fix won't cost them much. Replacing expensive hardware is.. expensive.
Don't get me wrong, I'm an AMD fan (on some Ryzen system now). I'm also an Nvidia fan and user.
They are both excellent and serious companies.
"It doesn't have Windows 95-style two-pane Explorer windows, with the folder tree in the left pane and the contents of the currently selected one in the right pane. Even though most Linux desktops have that now, it's a Windowsism that wasn't invented until after BeOS came out. "
Norton Commander and similar utilities had that under DOS long before Microsoft adopted the idea. I had a friend who wrote such a file manager for DOS before Windows had it (while Windows was still a failure at version 1). This would have been before 1989.
"Let's see you walk to the nearest charging station with a Jerry Can for your EV... go ahead. We'll wait."
Oh, yeah, I've walked to a petrol station many times. Oh, wait.. no. Never happened. Don't have a can in the car either.
What will happen in the future is that some large van with massive batteries will come out and rapid-charge your depleted batteries (due to your own stupidity) so you can reach the nearest normal charger.
What country? I'm sure it's not top secret?
Some tightwads will never be happy to pay tax, but very happy to draw from the benefits derived from it (like excellent public transport).
My disagreeing with you isn't "throwing toys out of the pram", so you may want to adjust your language.
