I have no idea, and I sense neither do you. If you have a link to a study, I'd be happy to read it. I realize they only work during the day, but unlike the grid, there's no need to have them produce 24/7. As for the brine, it's only concentrated seawater, one would have to control salinity at the discharge point. In this case, dilution is acceptable.
How about building large scale solar stills in the Mojave Desert? The only energy required is for pumping seawater, fresh water and brine. Sometimes low-tech is the best.
Just to add: I bet there's more than one engineering grad in California or the Middle East who's done a thesis on exactly that.
The thing with most traditional countermeasures is they're deployed upon detection of the threat, i.e. detection of a missile/torpedo launch. Hard to do that when it's coming at you at the speed of light. In addition, since it's a mobile gun, the line of sight is always changing.
As for previous giggling over the "Ponce", if it has frikken laser beams, what will the "USS Clint Eastwood" have for ordinance?? :O
So what I want to know is this: How does Microsoft's, Google's et als' numbers compare to the demographics graduating from the required programs? I bet one would actually see a relative bias against pale penises. And if that is the case, why aren't more vismins enrolling? Work the problem back in time to get the real answer.
Another part of this whole problem is the attitude of "A manager can manage anything, they don't need to really know the details, that's what their staff is for." I've seen it in my own job, the former CIO (female at that) who worked her way up from Assembler programming being replaced by a lapdog with a liberal arts background. Her problem is she illustrated some inconvenient facts.
The Note 3 does have a feature that will make a smaller version of the screen on either the left or right side of the physical screen for one handed use. You can easily switch back to full screen for watching video, etc. when seated. I really like mine, although I'm a two-hander with any phone for anything other than dialling.
Agree totally. I'd like to add that I think a big shift in the loss of manual skills happened when agriculture became mechanized, and we moved from mainly rural to urban living. I was fortunate to grow up on a farm. It was the best education I could get, I learned everything from basic construction to welding and mechanical work, safely use guns, etc. Heck I even helped deliver calves and "process" (read decapitate, pluck, and draw) chickens. And yes, I still eat meat.
