Singapore forum 'scammer' faces caning and prison

Azrafael
Thumb Up

Speaking of the article.

It's nice to see again IT related articles pertaining to my local forums appearing in ElReg~

"Caning was introduced to Singapore by the British, and requires prisoners to be tied to a trestle based on a British design. ®"

NIce touch; LOL.

Facebook says occupied territories are Israel

mmkay~

When such a circumstance occurs, you can't blame the developer/coder who set the region by default probably cos he/she doesn't understand much of the sensitivity of the issue involved.

Imagine a scenario whereby you choose a religion and you chose Christianity and by default it assume you're a catholic just cos the guy coded it put it that way by his understanding of a majority he assumes to be (FOR EXAMPLE)

Too much applications, too little quality control.

Farcebook.

As a Singaporean myself.

I've been hating these strict laws since they started curbing titles deemed unnecessary for the public in the late 90s.

Didn't feel much of an impact till the day i wanted to get Rockstar's GTA3 and vice city box sets which was banned too.

All these years the authorities have only succeeded in making the young turn towards piracy and this in turn worsens their effort to curb piracy thru mediums such as the black market dvds and torrents.

Am just glad my wolfenstein era till quake 2 had their stinking paws still being nursed by their mommas.

Loosen up.

Come on now folks, let's lay off the moon landing conspiracy theories (be it whalers), commies, ICBM warfares, espionage and most of the cold war era humdrums.

I can only be happy that the space age 'propelled' technology in itself a near exponential value in terms of time and knowledge gained. It is mostly through competition that brings out the best in one,

Let's sit back and commemorate this day offering a toast of vodka to them russians and to all the boffins over half a century.

Happy Sputnik Day!

Cheers~

About time?

In Singapore where I'm at it has become pretty much a standard especially in terms of connectivity across much middle to top end devices.

I remember using the first Motorola V3 and it came with the mini-usb a year back and i was amazed and contented (and still am!)

A mini usb port in itself provides much usb-adapter capabilities.

The title is by itself.

One of the corniest pun based titles I've seen for this month.

Made me smile as I work this weekend.

Cheers.

Remeber 20yeears ago.

I'm a child of the 80s.

When i grew up then the era was filled with transistor radios in buses and it irritated me, then came the walkman which eventually made people stick it in their ears as so did I and journeys was once again silent.

Nowadays with the influx of mobile phones w mp3 players the nuisance is back.

It irritates me still with top40 songs being blasted here and there.

Why mono?

It's a brilliant idea as it'll save up batt life.

Having stereo speakers won't be any difference on any devices that small if you wanna compare to quality of sound especially if you're an audiophile.

No matter how 'good' a company boasts a mobile phone's speakers is, it will always be sub-par compared to the real deal speakers. In a way it is the new age transistor radio.

PS: Stereo makes no difference in less than a meter apart from each other.

Azrafael

Only good thing of a mono speaker

Sorry i didn't include a reason why a speaker is good to my opinion.

It's annoying that's for sure, refer to previous comment.

But when I'm out with my woman or friends in less public spaces/places a mobile on the go music adds up to the atmosphere no doubt.

Mono is good enough and bang for the energy cranked :)

Cheers.

Thanks for the statistical links dude.

For those who want to indulge in curry now. Do take note that some chef's practice using coconut milk to 'thicken' the taste of curry.

Statistics

If that's the case.

The windows autorundown.

My job requires to have my thumbdrive to be utilized on different xp terminals to assist me in my work which i won't talk more of now. I would like to share my workaround on this common issue to those who are usnure.

Most usb worms works with super-hidden-files which usually involves 2 files: autorun.inf and an executable

Assuming your personal system is windows based, use dos to view attributes of your drive to look thru and delete it it. No thumbdrive requires any autorun.inf less it's one of those 'secure-usb-password-thingies'.

Else just read up on this quick article for registry settings on superhidden:

http://www.windowsitpro.com/Articles/ArticleID/14931/14931.html

For autorun disabling, the quickest and complete form of customizing is by using the WindowsPowerToys-TweakUI

http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/c/a/fca6767b-9ed9-45a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Hope this helps those in need,

Cheers.

PS: Plugging a personal thumbdrive on other windows systems is like not using a condom.

You serious?

Whether he was using or not I still find the thought of such acts disturbing and unethical. If he does contract it, I say good riddance.
