They do sound middling roles but I think they can reasonably be said to be "workers by hand or by brain". They're unlikely to have significant personal wealth or old boys networks to fall back on, so they have a stake in making this work.
More companies should do this, over time it might break the isolated bubble that most boards seem to inhabit.
I laugh because my college flatmate, let's call him Nigel, used to bemoan the difficulty of choosing the right variable type and wished there was just one which he christened "effing-great-big-massive". Fortunately for him, and his 486sx, Borland C++ was a bit more picky...

For those blessed with XX chromosomes popping one's legs in the stirups for such a test is hardly the most dignified of pursuits but can save your life. Pester your significant other to have one when you go home.
I am of course talking about having your cervix examined, not going up to a 1970s space station.
