Given the land area of Aus, India and the US I'd be somewhat surprised if such minerals weren't available somewhere within them, although the economics of mining those might be less desirable than (say) turning a blind eye to human rights transgressions. Guess it depends on exactly how serious the Quad are on this.
For probably twice the money on offer and on the condition I could work from my fair corner of this sceptre'd isle I'd consider this job, if only because I'd get a vicarious thrill from having my staff disable Priti's AD account at random intervals and providing increasingly Perrin-esque excuses.

Well indeed, and whilst I'm perfectly up for getting my kit off with the right partner it never even occurred to me to be photographed in such a state. For which the world should be very thankful.
@Neil_Barnes it's an interesting example, because since 1995 I've got through 12 cars. Whilst 7 of them are still running for others, 4 have gone to the great carbon sink in the sky and while my current chipped-up Honda sips frugally from it's chosen energy source, maybe your carbon footprint is actually lower. I think Tim Harford should investigate.

The Virgin Galactic market is for people who might have $250K in loose change rather than tens of millions. Which although that doesn't include yours truly, certainly opens up a broader demographic.
From what I understand you would experience weightless for several minutes (much longer than the vomit comet), would clearly see the curvature of the earth (yes, I know Concorde claimed that), and would see the sky turn black. Sure, it's not orbit, but If someone is looking to get me a last minute Christmas pressie, I wouldn't say no :-)
@Annihilator "Recovery" from bobbing around in the sea was always a bit of a euphemism. You really don't want to get salt-water on precision engineered rockets. I mean, I sigh inwardly getting it on my push bike. Horrible stuff. Plus the boosters land softly in controlled circumstances rather than splat into the North Atlantic.
....is that we can debate, try and ultimately choose which desktop environment we want. Now for my current lifestyle I'm pared back to Xfce and loving it. But I respect those who want to put on a big fluffy jumper... and will defend their right to do so until my fingers get sore from typing.
