Euro consumers favour plasma over LCD

Simon

CRT

Maybe i'm old fashioned but I have never understood the fuss about these modern plasma or LCD flat screen TVs.

My current (Flat screen, but big behind) CRT set sits on its stand in the corner of the room, I don't care how thick it is, because i'm only interested in looking at the front of it. Maybe someone will tell me I can stick a plasma or LCD on the wall and save even more space, but hey, my walls are for sticking pictures on.

Maybe when they get really cheap I may splash out on a HD TV, which I have seen in CRT flavour as well.

Glasses

Im sorry but I would never feel right wearing a pair of stupid glasses to watch TV.

How about I just do alternate blinking instead, right i'm going to start practising now until my boss sends me home on a sicky for "Odd behaviour".

Facebook moves to cut down application annoyances

Simon

Too many

Yes, my notifications inbox is filling up with invites to get me to install lots and lots of applications, all of them i now ignore.

The mention on here (Comments) about a video application, yes, why do i have to install it just to view videos?

And i really dont wish to see myself as a Simpsons Character to help promote a film (Flim Springfield!)

Re: Give up biking NOW!

OK, so some people disagreed with my comment.

Im a biker myself, i ride to work everday (60 mile trip) all year round. My helmet is right next to me on my desk. I also did 8 years as a racetrack marshal and have scooped many a hot headed teen off the track because he would rather get knocked off than calm down for a second at a bad overtaking situation.

It doesnt matter who saw who last, but on a bike you need to learn to survive, you look out for trouble, learn from your mistakes. No point saying its the other guys fault because a bike will always come off worse, so you need to ride in a defensive manner (Look it up on the web, defensive riding).

There are two kinds of bikers, those who learn to anticipate dangerous situations before they occur. And those who shouldnt be on a bike.

So once again, someone who hits an object like a bus shouldnt be on a motorbike.

Simon

Give up biking NOW!

Just reading through this article is worrying.

The guy has a head on collision with a bus, doesnt pack in biking and then mentions he goes racing. Someone who cant miss a bus shouldnt be on a ractrack.

Then being daft enough to leave his artificial arm on his bike for two hours.

Maybe God stole his arm and is trying to TELL HIM SOMETHING about giving up biking.

Old timers boozing themslves into oblivion

Cheers

Well according to these drinkin' experts we are all boozing ourselves into an early grave.

So i say let the old folks join in with our countrywide booze party after all they complain they feel left out.

Miserable Brits declare War on Comfort

Simon

Well what did you expect...

you sent the smokers outside, now the pubs are trying to stay in business by offering them an enviroment where they wont freeze in our tropical climate.

Sour grapes to the people who expected the smokers to all just give up, not satisfied with trying to make the smokers social outcasts, they are now accusing them of "Destroying the planet".

Spammer gets 30 years in the slammer

Simon

Indeed, who's next

Well judging by the reports in the past from The Reg, the majority of spamming is from a few individuals.

Maybe a long prison sentance is the only way to stop these people, so lets just round them all up and put them somewhere safe for the next 30 years.

Then we can have back all the time and money we waste sorting out the crap that fills our inboxes.

Im guessing that this is a rebadged fire damaged stock that melted in a warehouse fire. It certainly looks like it!

Talking to yourself.

Will the voice have an echo facility in it? "Helloooooo? Is there anyone thereeeeee?" As you walk past the endless rows of deserted shops all filled with the same identical slutty female outfits that no one is looking at.

Worst article ever

I like to read the Register for its witty and intelligent articles. However was this one supposed to be a form of trolling? It's *just* a phone.

Mum given young nympho's phone number

Simon

Similar experience

A few years ago i kept getting wrong numbers to the same person on my landline. Then this guy phoned up and demanded to know who the hell i was and what was i doing answering his wife's mobile, he was convinced something was going on between me and his wife. It ended up with this person ringing my phone all evening when i couldn't convince him (And was forced to put the phone down on him to escape his yelling at me) there was obviously a fault on the line. I did get a final phone call from him (A few days later) saying that he had now proved there was a fault and we had a good chuckle about it.

MMS and 3G

Who the hell really uses MMS and 3G anyhow? Well, maybe for surfing, but it does have wifi which is free if you know where to look. I think if people buy this phone it will be for the interface.

Enraged reader savages iPhone fanboys

iPhone bashing

Why has there been so much iPhone bashing going on? Even some comments in the Reg appear hostile?

Its just a phone, with a better interface, that can do some other tricks as well. If you dont like it then don't buy one, then allow the people who do buy it and wish to also hack it have their fun.

Yeah i have a mac, reading comments about people who also call macs a pile of rubbish maybe have never used one. Jeeze it reminds me of my playground days where Sinclair Spectrum owners used to call C64s crap and visa versa.
