Obviously they are spinning a line as one would expect but I thought that they managed not to sound too weasel-worded about it. The 'size' of does depend on your frame of reference so I think that there is some justification and since it appears they are unable to tell which customers are affected each person has better odds when they are 100:656,723 versus 100:100.

Obviously they could be lying or they could be presenting information that will later turn out to be wrong or incomplete and there is a question of how the compromise of a website released PII

It has been many years since Soap learned how to correctly write a letter, as I recall it if you address the recipient "Dear Sir/Madam" then don't you sign off, "Yours faithfully"? Or is that not a thing anymore?

Too many, or perhaps you mistyped. The convention is to use Yours faithfully with an impersonal address and Yours sincerely with a personal address but you are probably correct that it isn't much of a thing any more for most people.

bah, you kids are always in such a rush these days. Why can't they just write letters. The infrastructure is already in place (use it or lose it!) and everyone likes receiving letters. They could fail over to cleft sticks in hazardous conditions and the format supports pictures ones who can't read.

There is a Settings option called Cloud button to disable "online recognition". It was on by default. There is a separate "Share handwriting" option which prompted me to opt-in during initial configuration
