Re: Lying is always bad propaganda, because it deceives and misleads the people
Au contraire, Lying is the best propaganda isasmuch as it is the only propaganda. If it isn't some sort of lie it isn't propaganda by definition

[Obama] created the WORST replacement for a previously working industry (medical industry and insurance)
Certainly appears to have interfered with your meds today. I'm with @dougs, the awsome powah of your irregular capitalisation tends to make your best posts too much like your worst ones.
It's funny; US conservatives often deride gun control by saying "criminals don't obey laws, so if we ban guns then only criminals will have them."
The same logic applies to banning (or back-dooring) encryption. The sheeple will use the security-neutered comms to send cat pics to mom, and ISIS / the mafia / etc. will use something like PGP
But unless enough "sheeple" also use proper encryption, then 'properly encrypted' becomes a sufficiently valuable property for identifying 'traffic of interest' and allows TLAs to concentrate resources on looking out for opsec fuckups or meta-data so ISIS will need to cut over to using lame-o encryption on their seecrit comms steggoed into cat videos
Video for cats -->
it's all blown up in Microsoft's face, and all they've got to show for giving away the phones is some very potent brand damage for Windows Phone
Yeah, imagine the accounting write-down they are going to swallow for that. My guess is that they will push it up to a dollar because that is a nice round number and you can offset the inflated figure against tax
A mob pulls down/destroys a historic statue on government property and that criminal act is supposed to project love/respect/tolerance? ISIS did similar acts not long ago
I assume you are referring to this but ironically your description would equally fit this

... any given model of car is likely to have a road presence that goes largely beyond the decade, meaning that the manufacturer will be responsible for keeping the updates available for that model for however long there are still cars of that model running. In other words, it would be very badly received if a car maker announces that support for a given model will be retired because it stopped making it a decade ago
Well I suppose they could announce a service life before the model goes on sale. Fleet operators and contract hire providers wouldn't care if they went into the deal with open eyes. There would come a point when it would be cheaper to compensate the remaining owners. Again not really a problem if the cutoff date and terms were declared prior to first sale.
How do we know lifeforms don't exist in the Sun but we're too dumb or insignificant to communicate with them ?
Let's fire some rockets at one of it's satellites to destroy it. That ought to be enough to provoke them into making contact. I cannot foresee any possible fiascos that could arise from this course of action.
Any company bragging that their service is "military grade" without going into technically credible specifics is selling snake oil.
I used to think that before I worked peripherally to defense procurement and realised that late delivery, massive overpricing and barely functional products is what 'mil spec' is all about.
The camo one please-->
false positives would significantly out number true positives. The conundrum of Positive Predictive Value that makes medical screening dangerous.
That is a big problem in a population screening program but less so if the diagnostic test is applied to people who have presented with problematic symptoms and a doctor is looking for decision support in deciding on a course of action. Of course the prediction algorithm will simply have encoded the subjective diagnoses used to classify the training subject cohort but there may be some room for improving some diagnoses.
@donn bly the distinction that your beer/Saudi analogy fails to capture is that extra territorial judicial rulings are hardly unique and hardly an issue without extra territorial enforcement unless the subject of the judgement wants some sort of quid quo pro with the judicial authority. If Saudi were to issue a judgement forbidding, say, Diageo from beer sales worldwide then Diageo are quite free to say Fuck You unless they also want to sell soft drinks in Saudi in which case the Kingdom has some leverage over them and they face a commercial choice..,
It is a tricky issue for sure as international law (whether formal or speculative) relies on a combination of custom and practice, community standards and culture but is ultimately underwritten by the threat of force
@Chris G In the '70s... ...I worked at the Daily Express... ...the alarm used to go off at least a couple of times a week, ... We regarded it as a good time to go to the Wig and Pen in Fleet Street for a coffee or a pint, then back to work.
in 70s Fleet Street? Pant's on fire much?
I have long maintained that there is a finite number of IQ points in the world. the larger the population the lower the average number. We used to keep some in reserve so that people like Newton, Einstein and Franklin could exist. Now we end up with people calling the cops when their drugs get stolen...
Then again, it is Florida
One could argue that Florida has made more than adequate sacrifices in the cause of IQ Point Conservation. What are you doing?
In the 1980s and 90s I was in much the same situation. I found that sexually harassing myself was terribly boring...
I refer the PP to my previous response
It's all about suspension of disbelief...
:)
Well that's all very well but with the majority of the story lines revolving around the Doctor's cock and balls you can see why some of the fans are worried about how that is going to work now. Wait, wat?

"Been a while, but when I was working at the Uni, one of the lecturers (might have been a grad student, can't remember) emailed the support staff asking "Is email working?" I replied with something like "seem to be.."
Never heard anything back from him."
maybe he didn't get your email...
if only the OP hadn't been too glib to add "...let me know if you don't receive this."
Middle aged blokes who do P2P file sharing also seek paid "escorts". Since I only hit one of the three criteria I can't judge whether that is reasonable or not, but I'm sceptical. Still, who am I to doubt marketing?
You damn millenials, can't you just listen to some free music instead of pushing up the price of escorts for us old farts?
>>über-cool Bay Area
What exactly is uber-cool about an area where it is an essential career requirement NOT TO HAVE A LIFE.
Uber - Prefix used to form a word that means a shitty, broken or otherwise negative version of the affixed term. From the US based sexual harassment and taxi company.
Wait is just me or are the ysaying one has to be forced to be hetro ? Are they saying sexual orientation is a choice
Well they capitalise CHOICE elsewhere (being a tenet of the Gay Agenda meme I would have been surprised to not see this). I think what they are saying is that the Gay Lifestyle looks so damn tempting that any kid not fed a strict diet of "Hetrosexual" propaganda is bound to succumb. I would make an implication that they are just projecting but I suspect it is a brilliant troll.
...but please let him know that he has bought a car with fancy cruise control and not an autonomous mobility aid. If he doesn't have the strength or reaction times to pilot a large chunk of metal around the the roads that he shares with me and people that are important to me then he needs to get it properly adapted or stop driving on public roads

Are you sure Volvo aren't confusing kangaroos and boomerangs? The latter do have that sort of behaviour.
...So I was wondering my the boomerang kept getting bigger and bigger...
...
...and then it hit me.
I'm in the A&E queue all week folks.
