If your kid blew $$$s on in-app tat, Google has a slice of $19m+ for you

Dan Paul

Better to spend the money on better game designs?

You would think with 19 Million dollars to throw around that Google could pay the developer so they could make games that did not need in game purchases to begin with.

I know I'm not thinking right. Must be the post game stress disorder.

Hey hipsters: Tabs are so last year, fat phones are where it's at

Dan Paul

It makes sense if you use a bluetooth earpeice

Lets face it, more mobile content is on the way so bigger is better up to a point. My eyes aren't what they once were so bigger screens and fonts really help functionality.

The "Note" is quite large enough as a phablet. Bigger than that and you will have issues carrying it around. I have an S4 and pockets are too small in some cases.

However, put that phablet in your briefcase and its size becomes moot when you use it as a phone IF you use a bluetooth earpiece. Fix the battery life on earpieces and phones and it's all settled.

Unfortunately no one has yet found a way to keep you from looking like you are crazy as a loon when you talk to yourself.

Re: 'Heads I win, tails you lose'... chuckles Uncle Sam

Oh my god, please alright already go fight for ISIS if you feel that way. Then at least you're going to be far from the Internet....

Please, I've never heard so much hot air, gas and Russki propaganda since the late '60's. Even the communists bought into capitalism in EVERY case. Who bankrupted the USSR? Oh yeah their military trying to rip off every weapon systems we never developed.

The rest of the world will prevail with or without Russia. Russia is just backsliding into the abyss of self made isolationism, dictatorship and militarism.

Re: Sanctions (They are working)

Just not in you're best interest. Yeah, and the "peaceful Iranian goverment" isn't trying to build nukes. Sure......Swampland?

As my father used to say, Balls!

Why would anyone sign a treaty when idiots don't remember any history? Everyone in the area has been trying to kill the Israeli's since the British put them there.

If you feel that way, you should get it over with and go fight for Islamic State like you obviously want to.

Dan Paul

Re: Morals, ethics, principles...(Not effective in war)

It's pretty obvious you don't like any Americans, Tom and seem to have a hardon for us, and it appears likely that you lost some business over the sanctions. Why can't you just say it like it is and stop hiding your real feelings? You must like the pictures of Putin riding horse with his shirt off.

We "invaded" countries to stop the genocide of Bosnian Serbs, Kurds, Christians, removed certain dictators from power in Iraq, killed terrorists in all those countries (not invaded) you mentioned. Admittedly, some of those places weren't worth the blood of our and many other countries soldiers that fought against Islamic fundementalists that later became IS.

Any Iranian uranium concentration centrifuge systems that were provided by Germany, through Russia with Siemens controls in flagrant violation of sanctions against Iran are fair game in my mind. Screw the Iranian "government".

And we don't recognise any soveriegn power over the US by the ineffectual, completely compromised "United Nations" in any case. Those who do can kiss my ass.

Do you really trust Putin? If so, I have some swampland in Florida you might be interested in.

Putin is trying to restore the USSR to "glory" by annexing it's "neighbors".

And really, is quoting scripture gonna help when the Soviet Army jackboots into Kiev? They are in East Ukraine NOW and Putin brags he "Can be in Kiev in two weeks".

I don't think so.......Motes my ass!

Dan Paul

Re: Morals, ethics, principles...

No, you are incorrect. The parallels between the early years of German WWII agression on the Sudetenland and Poland are EXACTLY on target. The Russian invasion of Eastern Ukraine is NO DIFFERENT than the "repatriation" of adjoining countries during the war with Germany.

Simply walking in (with FULL Russian support, equipment, weapons and armed services) and annexing your neighbors is an act of war on Ukraine regardless of how the local populace feels. Funny how none of the "Unrest" was a news item until the takeover. Any REAL protests and issues would have made it to the international news way earlier. Anything that happens after the fact is a case of Russian/Separatist PROPAGANDA.

Shooting down airliners with long range missles SHOULD have resulted in FAR MORE than "Sanctions" against Russia. That's pretty damning evidence that can hardly be contraverted.

How about a firmware update?

Bought a really nice network reciever from Yamaha RX-V773wa; has 6 HDMI inputs and 2 HDMI outputs. All the peripherals go into the reciever and the output to the TV. Has the slightly newer HDMI 1.4A capabilty so full pass through, 4K resolution, etc works fine but it always seems to think I want audio through the TOSlink fiber from the TV, not from the HDMI cable. A firmware update to the CEC profile would likely take care of this but NO,,,, I bought it a year and a half ago and they don't have another firmware out for it.

Newer equipment doesn't mean better, just more features that may or may not be useful. Another type of Dolby doesn't warrant a new device but I'd be willing to pay for an update.

Dan Paul

Re: This is the problem with American...@bladeforce

Why do you people single out only American Companies? British Petroleum, BBC & BAE "lobby" foriegn politicians all the time as do many, many others.

The very basis of industry/business is the better you are at something, the bigger you become, the bigger you are, the richer you become, the more wealth you accumulate, the more power and influence you gain.

This is the way business works if you are successful. If you are NOT successful then you just fail, die and blow away in the wind.

All I ever hear from you commentards is alot of whining about how "unfair" US based companies are. Create something BETTER instead of whining all the time. The only methodology you have is to hamstring the better companies when providing a better product or service would be far more beneficial to EVERYONE.

Australia deflates Valve with Steam sueball

Dan Paul

Re: Not fit for purpose...

Exactly how is the lack of local servers or space Steams problem? They add them based on the number of people using the system. If not enough people use the system, then you basically voted them "off the island".

Answer, use/buy something else. Don't ask someone to refund what they couldn't provide you with.

Intelligence blunder: You wanna be Australia's spyboss? No problem, just walk right in

Dan Paul

Automatic Revocation (Not likely)

It would be rather unlikely that someone would have their access rights terminated automatically unless the system was fully integrated with the "other business systems" and that would be expensive and thus cost prohibitive to gov't.

ecofeco has it right. The Access admin person would have to be right on top of the situation and since the Director General was still working, they probably kept him in the system so he could do his job in the meantime.

The secrecy contracts he agreed to probably have to be complied with forever anyway. The Director would be least likely to pull a "snowden" anyway.

A "Vistor Management System" would revoke access for a visitor more quickly (offers one day passes and checks various lists for backgrounds), an employee would take a few days at least, unless he was fired for just cause and then he should have been removed immediately. That is almost always a manual process to permanently remove people.

Big content seeks specialist court for copyright cases

Dan Paul

Perhaps The Australian Federal Circuit Court has...

better things to do with it's time and resources than prosecute individuals for Copyright theft?

In almost all western law there is one tenet that stands out and that is "Let The Punishment fit the Crime". IE: We don't use the death penalty for shoplifting. We don't cut off your hand for pickpocketing. We don't have a debtors prison (anymore) and the penalties for downloading movies are way too extreme for the crime!

In fact, as the punishment exceeds the scope of the crime, one could argue that the entire law is out of whack and cannot be applied unless changed or repealed.

I offer that many courts, certainly many police would say (off the record) that copy right theft (downloading movies, music, etc) is not even worth their time as there are MANY more worthwhile crimes that need to be prosecuted and it seems, never enough time. THATS, why the scum want their own court so it's dedicated to the process.

In the states there is a process called jury nullification or the "refusal to fully prosecute" a law by the jury. This can be the most expiditious way to void the effects of an unjust law or arrest.

I completely agree, fans are completely unneeded. Heatsink Fins to radiate the extra heat are all that are required. I have a Streamlight handheld LED spot light that will blind you, can be seen well from a mile away, that only has a couple of heatsinks and they only get warm to the touch.

Those fans should be warranteed by Ford FOREVER. Well designed LED's DO NOT NEED FANS!

Re: Christianity has grown up ? (More than you have)

Sorry Pascal, your bullshit will no longer be tolerated. You are an asswipe that needs to shut up and stop your anti american, atheistic, propaganda that you spout in almost every post.

EVERY thing you mentioned is based on the revulsive Westboro Baptist church or their ilk.

Why is YOUR continued hatred even tolerated? Because you and your whole group here are agreed it is totally okay to be anti Christian and anti American.

How are you any different than them ?

You deliberately paint anyone with anyone with "faith" as misguided, antiquated and wrong and make all American Conservative Christians out as being part of that ONE small church with less than 100 members, a dead leader, no real power and all the intolerance you could ask for.

Those Westboro scum have been denounced by almost all Americans and religions in this country. They hardly even exist anymore. Really great example; 100 assclowns out of 300 million average people? Big mouths don't mean big numbers! EXCEPT YOURS!

In reality there are very few "creationists", it's just idiots like you that pick up on a headline from AP in Texas or Louisiana about a school board meeting and try to stir shit up not knowing anything about what really happens in this country. Ignorance can be forgiven but stupidity can't.

No different than you and your dummycrat peacenik love your neighbor crap that has worked so well that IS/ISIS/ISIL feels they can safely cut the heads off journalists and rape hundreds of women. How about Boko Haram? I suppose you think they are justified too?

Let's see hmmm, exactly WHO has grown up? It sure isn't the "Peaceful Muslims" because they don't publicly denounce the crimes of believers like the ISIS murderers, they'd rather send them checks. The atheists just blather on about how having "Belief" is wrong and should be banned and "they been done wrong by religion", while they bully others who have done nothing to them except have a religion.

Grow up yourself! Stop the BS! Quit being so stupid! Don't blame others for YOUR OWN shortcomings.

Re: That confirms what I thought.....(@Alister)

Since there is no sarcasm tag or icon here, it is impossible to tell when Brittons are being sarcastic or just being anti-american. The latter is FAR more frequent.

Take yer dang tongue outta yer cheek and get offa my lawn! Whippersnappers the lot of ya.

For the record, and as has been my experience here; a very large percentage of Reg commentards seem to be anti-American by default (Damn downvoting Terrorists anyway) and apparently DO think the Simpsons are an example of the way most Americans act (OOH, Doughnuts, D'oh!). Before the Simpsons, the three TV shows you mentioned (along with most soap operas) are considered to be a bloody European tutorial on how to be an American. Hell, YOU mentioned Dallas, not me, I would have shot JR.

Most of us Americans, at least those in my generation; gave up on the Disney Studios/Dick van Dike representation of the typical Britton when we were nine or ten. Then we followed the Beatles/British Invasion interpretation until The Rolling Stones were in vogue here. And then we got high, and then we got high, etc. When we woke up, most of us really didn't care about the rest of the world. We were too busy dealing with war, life, kids and work. Some of us even stopped making sweeping generalizations about other countries and their people.

Note I said "some of us".

Dan Paul

That confirms what I thought.....(@Alister)

That the only things that Brittons understand about the USA is from our television shows.

So sorry that's where Britains level of knowledge of the USA is from too.

For reference, most Americans are far more intelligent than the "Simpsons" would depict and 99% of American television is NOT expected to be "educational" or "realistic"! (including our "news".)

There is no morality in war, innocent people get killed. If this were England during WWII, and those were V2's instead of Hamas rockets, the whole lot of you would be praying for the extinction of the enemy instead of supporting them. Germany deliberately targeted civilians during the war.

Hamas attacked Israel first, unprovoked; Israel responded in kind albeit with better weapons.

It's NOT Israels fault that Hamas uses innocent Palestinians as human shields and launches it's rockets from inside so called safe areas (That makes them unsafe for the thick among us).

Hamas controls everything within the borders of Gaza including UNWRA. That makes them responsible for putting people in harms way. If they chose a different area to launch from, they wouldn't have as good a propaganda opportunity.

Merger-hungry Comcast and Time Warner withdraw from FCC commissioner's dinner event

Dan Paul

Anti-Merger of Comcast and Time Warner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any Comcast and Time Warner merger will result in a monopoly position, further reducing scant competition and exacerbate already poor customer service, underprovisioning of bandwidth and general crap product.

There is no compelling reason to allow this merger to happen besides the rampant bribery of the FCC most likely in various future employment opportunities, if not outright cash.

We need the penalties changed for corporate influence of a public entity.

Minimum 20 years without parole and forfeiture of an entire years gross revenue would be a good start, followed by a ten year ban on former FCC employees being hired away by those that the FCC regulates.

Anonymous threatens to name cop who shot dead unarmed Michael Brown

Dan Paul

Re: Yet another BS comment...

You are woefully ignorant of how gangs work in this country. Especially the ones that originate in Mexico. Try looking it up or spend some time talking to an American cop in any city about the gang problem here. People are shot all the time from gang initiations, including cops.

More bullshit from wimps who don't understand reality.

Dan Paul

Re: On the matter of the public's right to know. (They don't!)

When someone grabs your gun you don't have any time to socialize, moron. Or should you try counseling the perp while you are being shot? Sometimes, the gene pool is better off without the scum and I have none of the guilt you espouse.

As a cop you are trained to react and shoot the aggressor. Since you made a moral judgement, so will I. If you grab a cops gun, you likely did not have his/her best wishes in mind. Does not a cop have the right to do his job without fear of being killed by a gang member trying to make his nut? Yes, they do!

YOU are completely ignorant of reality on the streets and apparently only take the side of the opposition because it "makes you feel good" and relieves you of your white guilt for having a better life than the people you always take the side of (wrongly).

The cop was in his car when the perp tried to grab his gun. Your artistic licensce with the events belies your viewpoint.

There are pictures of the so called "victim" throwing gang signs and wearing colors!

1 plus 1 DOES = 2 There should be no justice for gang members and none for you because you only want chaos and anarchy. Obey the law and you don't get shot or arrested, dumbass.

Dan Paul

Re: "puts his life on the line every day"

Are you fucking kidding me? Try a stint "on the job" in any major city. It's like a warzone, one that the US Government and the media doesn't want to admit exists because it would make a certain President "look bad". Too bad you only get left leaning "news" over there or you would know better.

And quoting a Forbes "feel good" article from a "jobs" hack does not mean that there is any veracity to your argument. Anyone can look up the same crap from the bureau of labor or wikipedia.

Try some reality and shadow the cops in Detroit, Chicago or New York and tell me thats the case. I live in the burbs and we now have similar crime to the big cities and it's getting worse.

Dan Paul

Re: "puts his life on the line every day"

No, you will just get harmed in some other way, taking guns away from citizens doesn't mean the criminals gave them up. Try reading instead of reacting, try more sources than this rag, you are an anti-cop idiot who would rather believe the crook than the cop any day and I have to disregard YOUR version of reality as ridiculous

Dan Paul

Re: On the matter of the public's right to know. (They don't!)

These comments are in response to people who have already convicted the cop without any proof or a trial so I am entirely justified in my remarks until proved otherwise.

FACT: Anyone who tries to grab a cop's gun will be shot. White/Black/Who cares!

FACT: "Signing" as in 'throwing a gang sign means you are in a gang. There are pictures of the kid throwing gang signs all over the media.

Gang members REGULARLY kill cops.

FACT: Put the FACTS together and you are going to get shot by the cop you tried to grab the gun from.

Dan Paul

Re: endemic racism in society

Absofuckinglutely! Right on the money.

Dan Paul

Sweeping generalizations again...

Stop feeding the Bullshit Machine!

Cops do not shoot blacks first and ask questions later. That is a stupid sweeping generalization taken from watching too many TV shows or listening to too much gangsta rap music. Either way you are obviously addlepated.

The fact is that if you won't stay in school, you are not going to graduate. If you don't graduate, you won't get a job, if you don't get a job you often end up relying on criminal means to support yourself and you WILL get caught. Then you are a criminal and it doesn't get better from there.

Just remember this; you put yourself there, not anyone else; including the cops.

None of those things are directly related to race, only to how hard you apply yourself to make life BETTER not WORSE.

Your first example was an activist trying to push open gun carry laws further and he was charged with a misdemeanor for not showing ID; by the cops. He's done this over a dozen times. Oh, that was in Aurora Colorado where there was an actual mass shooting. Cops actually showed some restraint didn't they?

The second example was for a guy who was described as waving a gun at people in the store; turned out that was only an air rifle. Since you don't have any fire arms over there, an "air rifle" can look like a regular gun. I saw ones at Wal-Mart just the other day that look like an AR-15, .3006, H&K, any number of pistols etc. People waving air guns at other people frequently get shot by the cops, moral...don't wave any guns (of ANY type) at people or you may get shot.

Dan Paul

Re: "If the dead guy were white..."

Hey Coward, If a white guy grabbed a white or black cops gun ANYWHERE, he would be shot dead.

That is a fact. Not conjecture or speculation like your comment, the problem in Ferguson is like you. Full of BS.

Dan Paul

Not if you apply yourself!

Stop trying to make excuses for people who would rather loot and steal than face facts.

The percentage is high because they won't apply themselves. You take the anti side to any rational argument about race because you think you can over compensate by excusing others shortcomings. All you do is enable idiots to commit more crime with less guilt.

The truth be told, when a whole culture promotes crime; there is nothing that can be done until they growup and want to have a better life than "living on welfare". The black CULTURE is WRONG to glorify the "Thug Life".

Any argument between a white cop and a black victim is going to be considered "racist" when you can't possibly separate the two. When the crime in the black area involves blacks they will view the cops as "oppressive". That does not mean the cops are "racist", just that the perpetrators are black and cops are white. That's too bad.

My Niece (who was poor and half black and had a hard life with addicted parents and was raised by her white gandma) IS NOW A DOCTOR!

That did not happen by being a defeatist and saying "Woe is me, Whitey is keepin me down".

That's BULLSHIT and you should know that by now.

Dan Paul

Just pointing out the facts..

That some 50% of high school dropouts are black, of that percentage almost 75% end up in prison? Is it their race or is it due to the culture?

If you glorify the gang life as something to aspire to (because you don't have to work hard, just kill a cop and sell lots of drugs to be installed as a gang member) don't you run the risk of getting caught committing the crime?

The fact is that very few blacks have any interest in becoming a cop because that would be viewed as selling out. It is far more attractive to be a "Gangsta", so you will always be against the cops.

Blacks in poor areas do not become cops and thats the cops fault for what reason?

Dan Paul

Re: What happened to the principle of...

Re: You just need to look to NYC

The two cases have nothing in common, first nothing in NY Shitty is ever on the up and up, the entire force and the government is corrupt. Who knows about the case down south. All we know for sure is there is a dead teenager and a cop who says he tried to grab his gun from him.

If the cop is right and you backyard quarterbacks have already convicted him without a court of law, you should all burn in hell. Sometimes you don't get what you expect.

NYC Police are a thing to avoid. Don't fuck with them, you'll get hurt. What you saw on TV, they call resisting arrest.

When confronted by a cop in any locale, don't get wise, do what they tell you and shutup.

Re: "puts his life on the line every day"

My brother in law was a cop for 25 years. You don't EVER know when you come up to the car window whether the drunk driver you pulled over has a weapon or not so yeah, "He put his life on the line". It only takes once to die. Happens all the time but you never hear about it because a cop died, not some gang member.

You Eurotrash should spend a whole night on the streets of a major US city and see how scared you get by the scum that police have to deal with every day; BEFORE you spout off about something you have NO IDEA about.

There isn't time for "benefit of the doubt" when someone grabs your gun, you are trained to react.

It's pretty clear that you have already made up your mind and convicted the cop before he ever has a chance to go to court.

Dan Paul

Re: On the matter of the public's right to know. (They don't!)

Oh yeah he does have a right to privacy. When do we get your real name moron? Then we will go to the media and have your name and address to give to all the nice police officers here in New York who will then do what you say they do.

A cop is not automatically bad, you just make him out to be that way. They call that "prejudice". A "public servant" doesn't have to take your shit either and certainly has a right to a fair trial, something he can't get with idiots like you and Al Sharpton around.

I can say you are a terrorist and you may be or not be. You just did the same thing to all the police in the US.

The USA is not the Wild Wild West idiot. There are some people who think they are above the law, can try and grab a cops gun and throw gang signs in the pictures they are showing on TV. It's pretty obvious to me that one look at that picture tells me he's hooked up with gangs. It is a "right of passage" of gangs to kill a cop or some bystander.

Therefore the cop shouldn't even think once before unloading a whole magazine into the scumbag.

It's as simple as that. And by the way don't expect any fair treatment by cops, TSA, ICE, Border Patrol or any other "public" servant who puts his life on the line every day for sorry losers like you!

Dan Paul

What happened to the principle of...

Innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law?

It has gotten to be WAY too much. The minute MSNBC hack "reverend" Al Sharpton goes to the scene, all hell breaks loose because he stirs up an already bad situation and no one is able to get a fair trial until the "court of public opinion" has already tarred and feathered the cop. Funny how that works. What about all the damage to property? Who pays for that? Did they all get arrested?

If this kid went for the cops gun while he was being handcuffed, then the cop was entirely justified in shooting him; whether he was black or any other color doesnt matter. Cops get to be safe on the job regardless of the criminals race. Just because you're black doesn't mean you get special treatment. The object lesson here is don't sass off to the cops and don't resist arrest.

Too many call out "racist" when they don't know any facts besides what they are told by the rabble rousers who are callously looking for ratings. Everytime Obama gets criticized, someone pulls out the race card to hide behind because he can't stand the scrutiny. Same thing happens all day long.

Maybe they should charge Sharpton with "Inciting a Riot" or "Interference in a Police Investigation"?

Both of those would apply to script kiddies too!

Govt control? Hah! It's IMPOSSIBLE to have a successful command economy

Dan Paul

Re: How to plan central planning (Just Try Herding Cats)

I agree with your observations. The reason why government can't plan is twofold. First, try "herding cats". They don't want to do what you want and if they did, they wouldn't know how. That's a perfect allegory for most humans. You can't plan when no one is cooperative. Next, there are just too many variables to calculate the trajectory of the economy. It is too complex, much like the Climate debate; for anything to make a cogent result of it. There is always a "But If".

Your comment about immigration is interesting as it points to the US situation with illegal immigration. If they won't use the proper system, how are we ever to figure out how many we really have here? Besides of course, the overwhelming cost on society? The doors are still open for immigration, just not to those who will only bring a burden to our economy. It is impossible to supply the proper services in the right quantity knowing who and how many needs them.

Immigrants who come here legally (and current residents) should not be penalized by those who won't come here legally or conform to the rule of law.

If those who work within the system lose out to those who don't, how is that fair? I work hard for my income, and I pay my taxes. I expect that from everyone. I can't expect Social Services to keep a roof over my head and they won't.

Unfortunately that's NOT true in the case of illegals. They are being provided with benefits I cannot qualify for and at my expense.

The only thing I can say for sure is the system is out of balance and will topple if nothing is done.

Canadian ISP Shaw falls over with 'routing' sickness

How dependent we have become!

Fun stuff like this just shows how dependent we have become on technology.

This is only the Shaw network, how is Rogers doing? Smells of poor router security to me.

Re: 4 point type

New York State has a supposed "Plain English" contract law. If it's got obfuscatory language, it's not a contract. (Too bad it doesn't apply to our lawmakers).

I say that goes for fonts too!

Ban anything under 12 point in size permanently. Anything smaller is proof of a conspiracy between optometrists and puplishers.
