Apple iGlasses

Bob726

Re: Apple iGlasses

In the future, iGlasses will show you a virtual world that has been completed created by Apple. You won't be able to take them off -it will be like being stuck in the Matrix.

Could goole renaming Dokdo to liaccourt rocks be retaliation?

"Google’s culture is demonstrably hostile to privacy."

Perhaps, but the same could be said for any giant internet based company -Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, etc.

Nexus 7 - Price Gouging

Bob726

This is an example of why I don't rush out to be first in line to buy the latest gadgets. You generally do better waiting at least a month or two.

Bob726

It's surprising, really, as most of the market for such devices are already online and can find better deals so readily.

Jokes of no more than 2 lines

Where do you find a dog with no legs?

Right where you left him.

Rogue IT employees - give us the down and dirty

Re: Rogue IT employees - give us the down and dirty

Stories like this make me afraid to rely on IT guys at all, except for phone support every so often. Then again, I don't have any advanced technical needs for my business at this point. I may have to hire someone eventually, though, so I'll have to be thorough about screening them.

Why doesn't Apple buy Dyson

Bob726

It seems silly to argue whether Dyson is cooler than Apple as they aren't even competing in the same market. As for disposable devices, this pretty much applies to anything electronic these days.

Sci Fi recomendations?

Fantasy

How about the genre known as urban fantasy? I like the books of Charles de Lint, for instance, such as The Little Country. I suppose Jim Butcher could be put into this category as well, since his books take place in the present time.

Tracking users across the file system landscape

Today you have to be a large company or government to warrant having "confidential information." For the rest of us, our data can be mined at will for the most part.

3D is the future of cinema?

Bob726

Re: 3D is the future of cinema?

I suppose logically it should be considered the future of cinema, but I'm not so sure. It's been around for a long time -there were 3D glasses decades ago and so far it's still limited in scope. I'm not into the blockbusters with lots of special effects myself. There will always be a market for lower key films that are more character and story focused.

This week I have reading...

Books

I'm currently reading What Are You Looking At? by Will Gompertz, which is about modern art.

Google Nexus 7 3G out today

Bob726

Like iPads and other tablets, the Nexus looks like fun but definitely not something I really need. I have an inexpensive Toshiba laptop that does everything a tablet can do (at least that I care about). Still, I'm sure I'll eventually give in and buy one when I have a little extra cash around.

Still buying CDs?

Bob726

Re: Still buying CDs?

I own some, but am getting used to everything being digital. Lately, when I want to hear a song I find a video of it on YouTube. I can't recall the last time I bought a new CD.

Why Garmin don't do refunds

Bob726

I'm surprised to hear this, considering how well known Garmin products are. It just goes to show that you always have to read the fine print before buying anything!
