What's wrong with actually calling and talking? I don't regard texting and Whatsapp to be "talking" as too much of communication is nuances in voice (and if in the same place as the other person visual contact) is lost and rather impersonal with just text type communication.

Seriously... am I just being old-fashioned?

Not so fast... yes, they had an increase in income but, they're cutting costs meaning employees. And the new guy is going to continue with the plan Meg started. At what point does cutting employees kill new products, sales,etc.? The investors might be excited for a couple of quarters but it probably won't last.

Not just rockets. but ships with cargo, dead fish, and even airplanes. Oh.. and humans, dead ones, but humans. SpaceX is at least trying and having success at recovering their rockets. Not just from a pollution standpoint but there's a savings in resources. etc. They should be commended not called "louts".

3- Blocking Ads is just as much a security decision these days.

There's the big one. How many times have we read that some major news org is slinging malware in it's ads that they have no control over? I'm old school in that I can ignore ads no matter how shiny or noisy. It's the security holes these things open up that makes me nervous.

Go back a bit in history to the early 1900's. There were protests and riot by labor unions and the government sent in the troops to "restore order" which usually involved gunfire from the troops only. This isn't about "common sense".. MS has deep pockets and for some reason, Lundgren's lawyers either didn't bring all this up about the licenses, etc. or failed to clearly explain it to the judge/jury at the first trial. And, let's not forget that it's about "law" and "lawyers" and not about common sense. If it were that simple, there never would have been any lawsuits for people falling off ladders or spilling a hot cup coffee from McDonald's on their lap as they drive off from the drive through.

Have an upvote for common sense. Tell me in plain English (or whatever language we can communicate in) what you want/need and why. I'll get it done. If it's a redundant function or a problem, we'll get a cup of coffee and sort it out. Certainly not 2 months worth of pondering the meaning of the universe and all that.

They've busy trying to convince the holdouts how glorious Win10 is plus trying to get everyone to stop using the old OS and browsers. They're working hard also to sell more ads for the OS you pay for.. dual income opportunity. So who's got time for patching bugs when there is more profit to be made?

My first IT job as a programmer on a UNIX system. Note... we didn't have a "test" environment, only "live" data. I'm writing a search utility for marketing and did some cut and pasting from another script to speed up the writing process with the intention (what the road to hell is paved with) of fixing the thing. Come in the next morning and the boss wants met to run what I have done so he can see my progress. Cue mad panic as suddenly all the data on the mainframe disappeared. Luckily, the backups were on site and only about an hours work was lost by the staff. I kept my job as did the manager though we both got reamed for it. The following week a "test" server appeared at our door. The same one the manager had been requesting for two years.

I like that idea. So instead of waiting by the computer for something to appear on FB, the users will be waiting by the mailbox and maybe actually talking to their neighbors.

How did you take a photo with 3 hours of exposure and not get the "arcs" you see when the earth rotates during that time?
