You eat pictures?
Maybe the people in the pictures?

What does "auto" mean in the context of auto pilot.....is it short for "automobile" or is it short for "automatic".
Either way is mis-leading. To most folks, "auto pilot" is airplanes use and make things easier on the human pilots.. i.e.: the plane flies itself is what the a/c industry says. Maybe not take off and landings so much yet but even that is out there. So, tell people their car has autopilot and guess what? They'll equate it an aircraft system.
Tesla is playing word games with people's lives at stake.
As a side note... how many people have been picked up by the cops for sleeping while their Tesla is running down the road?
In his defence the cartridges on that printer are the same size, though slightly more damning is that he had needed to force it past the plastic part that is there to stop you putting one in the wrong slot.
Ah... one of those who believes that if all else fails, get a bigger hammer.
In the worst case, given that the design is now established; how much of a delay would producing a new satellite to the same specifications entail?
Would they duplicate the exact design? Or would they improve just things like wiring harnesses and other equipment?
Answer those two and you'll have your answer. Since it's a government program I would expect increased costs and more time needed.
Generally, we've been filling up low orbit and to some extent high orbit for decades without giving it much thought. It seems like it's only been in the last 10 years or so where we are having more and more launches every month. The sats that the Musky one is launching 50 or so at a time is also a problem... a big problem.
While it's true that what goes up will (for the most point) come back down but that's a function of us sitting back and waiting unless someone comes up with a cheap and reliable way to de-orbit all the junk and dead sats.
I suspect that in not too many years that space will be off-limits to us Earthlings since the risk of collision will be too high.
Way back around the time of Sputnik (which is still up there), no one considered that low orbit or really any oribit of earth would become crowded with junk. Instead of actively deorbiting things like boosters, dead satellites, etc. It's now become a real problem. Even the Musk satts are creating problems and not just for astronomers.
Space... a real mess. Maybe the final frontier will soon be blocked.
Their target market seems to be a bit limited because I don't think there are that many people smart enough to get hold of enough money to buy that crap, but stupid enough to actually want to.
I could be wrong though.
I think you are wrong. Stupidity knows no limits. I can think of lots of examples where stupid somehow gets money. I'll not go into examples but over the last few years there's lots of examples.
I'm picturing like when you run over a headphone cable with the Dyson's spinning brush head.
I agree on this. For many reasons this doesn't sound like a good idea. Using a fixed wing big plane like the US did is one thing.... whirling blades overhead just seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
This could be one reason for them blowing up a satellite. They do want to quit the ISS and the sooner the better. On the other hand, we have Musk who's really trying to make a solid wall around earth with every launch of his TV satellites.
I'm beginning to believe that the mindset of many countries is "If we can't have space to ourselves, no one else can use it either".
I'm waiting now to see who's next to blow up their own satellite.
I have no idea what happened there after I left, but I like to believe that HR took what I said on board, and things changed for the better ...... but then I also believe that pigs and even 787 Maxs can fly!
HR is not there for the benefit of the worker bees but for manglement. So, yes... they did nothing.
It was a simpler time.
Indeed, it was. It was a fun time in many ways before Bill decided to take over the world and "own' all the PC's and servers and either buy a software company and let it die or kill off anything not that was not his.
His killing off WordPerfect was a pure evil stroke of genius or madness.
There's many of us who are still using Win 7. It's stable and not crap shoot on what works and doesn't work. And many of us are still using legacy "buy once, use forever" software instead of bug ridden subscription stuff.
As the articles point out.. Win 11 is still Win 10. Can't hide a pig with a face lift.
I do have a Linux box waiting for one or two more bits of software before I yell "FREEDOM!!!!" and kill the Windows box.
"... Not to be outdone, Google, in its 2021 Water Stewardship whitepaper [PDF], says by 2030 it "will replenish 120 per cent of the water we consume, on average, across our offices and data centers … where we operate.""
So where are they getting the 20% more water to return then they draw out? Not like they can get it out of thin air. I realize that many of these places use the water, some dump the return into the river, others it evaporates. But still... where's the 20% coming from? I don't think it just going to magically appear.
Way back when, we remember that Google's motto was "do no evil". Then they started making money... big money. The corruption and rot set in. So here we are today. As someone earlier posted... "beware of Greeks bearing gifts" and another saying "beware of Geeks bearing gifts". Seems to be sound advice.
