Smartflix

So I use smartflix to watch worldwide content on Netflix.

They are about to introduce their paid for service $3.99 a month or $39 a year(free beta is about to end). It has its own interface(better than netflix imo) and active developers working to counter any geoblocking that Netflix enforce.

The only issue for me is it is built on chrome which netflix only allows 720p instead of Edge's 1080p

But I think I am going to go for the Smartflix paid for service. If I didnt, then i would cancel my netflix too.

If they are going to send out more than 1 craft, maybe they can use them as relays as some of them become less viable and the candidate for the most likely crafts to reach the system thin out.

Would be better if the QR code just displayed an actual code that can be copied and pasted into a microsoft website like microsoft.com/errorcode

I wish I could work for a company like this and be so involved and invested in its success, I don't think i have many skills that would get me in though :(

Thankfully all the features I need as a user are still on the thick client so I will still be using that until the use of the web client is as responsive and smooth as the thick client.

I see countless stories about photographers reporting these incidents. 99% of the time they have done nothing wrong in photographing from a public area. But it doesn't help their cause by not communicating in advance that they are going to be there.

If someone turned up outside my house and set up a tripod and started to film then I too would angrily confront the person and possibly call the police.

However if the photographer knocked on my door, told me that he/she was going to be filming the traffic going past my house and told me what project it was for then I would be more than satisfied with that.

He doesn't have to ask the ports permission to film there, it would just be better for everyone if he told them he was going to film there.

This S7 does nothing extra over my Note 4 that I want, so I will be keeping my Note 4 for a while.

The next time I upgrade it will probably be something with a rollout screen.

I upgraded my families computers to windows 10 as soon as it came out. Since last July I have had very few issues. None that I didnt have before. Everyone is really happy with the way it looks and feels.

I disabled as much crap as I could, all the notifications and pointless bits.

To be able to go to the windows store, download a few fun free windows games for my mum to play has bee great. Much easier than searching the web for compatible programs.

I understand peoples frustrations who are very happy with Windows 7. it is wrong for Microsoft to push 10 so much and so hard. But overall 10 has been fine for me and everyone I have installed it for. Yes there are privacy issues, but lets not kid ourselves, there are privacy issues in so many more things. I am much more concerned with what the government is trying to snoop on than Microsoft. We know Microsoft is doing it for profits, what is the government doing it for?

They have done this so Disney can bully all cinema chains to only show their movie for 3 weeks again over xmas.

The first DLC is free so you get 6 maps and a bunch of fun modes.

I have been enjoying it for the last few weeks now, although there are a lack of weapons, and playing as rebels you only get to use a few types of aircraft and no land machines.

I am not buying any DLC though or doing their season pass. To me that is a ripoff. We need to change the industry thinking to stop trying to sell us the same game twice.

VM know full well people will ask to leave. The price rise is aimed at those that don't even bother looking at their bill. Those are the ones that will just pay it.

Those that phone up and ask to leave will be offered a discount package that will probably give you another 12 months on the same price you are paying now.

I phoned up to cancel last year, in fact I phoned to cancel my TV and phone and just keep the broadband. They offered me a discount if I kept the phone line. so my 50meg and phone costs me less than 50 meg on its own. It is all about subscriber numbers.

Good for you, you like to use Linux. I like to use Windows, it is essential to my job, puts food on my table, pays for my mortgage (so I dont live with my mum still) and pays for my social life, that isnt spent dribbling over a kernel.

I have had Windows 10 installed on several family machines for months now and my own.

No problems at all. I don't know where these people are having issues with Windows 10 are coming from, or they are just jumping on the windows 10 hate bandwagon.

W10 is a better OS than 8 and 7 and XP if you are running on recent hardware( less than 3 years old)

I like my smart meter. It means I don't have to go outside to read the values. I changed supplier recently and the new one doesnt officially support smart meters so I still have to send them the numbers. But at least I wont be cold doing it in winter.

Had my note 4 for a month too. I am not bothered with it being a small improvement over a note 3, what moron upgrades their phone every year anyway? My previous phone was a note 1, so this is a vast improvement over that.

Normal charging takes ages. Fast charge is indeed very fast. I don't know why they keep saying 50% in 30 minutes, and not 100% in 60 minutes, because mine charges to 100% in about that time when on fast charge.

I have to say this series has been incredibly boring.

As a Doctor I think Peter Capaldi is good, just the scripts are so bad that it doesnt reflect well on him.

They are going to the same places as always, 1930's earth, ect. What happened to going to amazing places on the other side of the universe far into the future. What happened to the alien ships and planets.

The moon episode was terrible. It didn't make any sense at all. I was bored and was very close to just turning it off.

I don't think Jenna Coleman will return for the next series (if there is actually going to be one). I think they need to bring back some favorites to get us interested again, Captain Jack, River, come and save Dr Who before BBC cancel the show. Of course the writing will have to be 10 times better even if they do return.

My old laptop still uses vista, no reason to upgrade it. the laptop is over 10 years old and I put vista basic on it years ago. I use it as a kind of mini server and IRC and it has an uptime of 45 weeks. No reason at all to upgrade it. Main PC is W7 though and I expect it will be this until W9 has proved itself when it comes out.

I must admit I watch a lot of BBC. I love the nature and science programs, I like the comedy, the Drama is extremely good. I actually dont watch ITV or channel 4 or any of the other non BBC Free to air packages. I have Virgin TV but I dont even watch that anymore. I think I am going to get rid of that soon.

I probably would pay for BBC, as long as they didnt put adds on there, if they put adds on then well, I will just get my content from the interwebs

My contract is up for renewal in January, so I will be swapping my Note 1 out with the Note 3.

I am still very happy with my note, its still brilliant, but the slightly larger screen size and more powerful hardware is worth the upgrade. My note 1 sometimes feels a little laggy on the latest version of the OS.

I don't get code patents at all. They are set instructions and commands already in the public domain, weather it be in C# php or java. The commands are already there for anyone to use and put together. How can you patent something that once compiled, no one can see unless they have the source code.

Inventions are one thing because you can see all the components of an invention and copy it exactly. With a compiled program(I am in no way a "coder") I understand you cant see the exact code. So if someone wants to create a slide to unlock interface for themselves then they would have to write their own way of doing it. To me that is not copying what the other person is doing, to me that is competition.

I noticed

I thought my net went down, until I noticed IRC was still chugging along as normal. Then I thought it was virgin media DNS as by the time I entered googles DNS in my system instead, it appeared to work, so i blamed virgin media, my bad :)

I was more interested in the green casing of one of the iphones, it is pretty much exactly the same shade of green as the android logo. Some people might mistake the green iphone as running android, however that might actually improve the iphone if it did run android

Pointless

This is completley pointless, what residential person needs 300mbps downstream? I have virgin media and am on the 100 meg package, it far far exceeds my requirements for download speed, and I consider myself to be a heavy internet user.

With everyone sharing home videos via facebook and huge 100meg pictures, they should now be concentrating on upgrading peoples upstream as well as bringing those stuck on lower speeds up to catch up with the rest of us.

I am only interested in improving my upstream now, sure i can download my sisters wedding video in about 5 minutes, but it took her ages to upload in the first place.

This is why we are so far behind in infrastructure, idiots making the wrong decisions and spending money in the wrong place

Real Point?

I saw the headline and started to read this with interest, but it soon became apparent that the "article" was really nothing useful for sysadmins at all. It just tells us stuff we already know, its not a solution, its not a tip. I didn't find it useful at all.

If anything, the article has told me that I shouldn't be using physical servers with a single OS installed onto a single physical server. Instead of telling vendors to include IPKVM as standard on their servers, you should be purchasing a set of hardware with virtualisation, which will have built in redundancy. No longer would you need to get up in the middle of the night to reboot server. just connect to the management console and check that it has migrated to a working physical server.

Double Standards

Pretty much double standards, google has a front picture of my house, they also have an aerial view, and when you zoom in closer, they have a 3D view from 4 different angles, bing has a crapper version of that.

I don't really care that much to be honest. If someone flies a drone in my garden and peer into my rooms, I am going to get a baseball bat and smash it to bits.

I was seriously considering buying one of these, I was trying to look for the range everywhere, they really make it hard to find this, its one of the most important aspects of an electric car.

That is the only annoying thing about these companies advertising electric cars, if they were all just up front and told us is a nice clear place what the range is then I would respect them a lot more.

As my daily drive is 30 miles to work and 30 miles back, this obviously isnt suitable for me. I am going to give it another 3 or 4 years. I am hoping by then that they bring out an electric car with at least 150 miles to a charge. Then and only then will it be good enough for me to have as a daily drive.

They are not threatening to ban, that is a rumor, they posted on twitter on their official account that they are not banning people requesting refunds.

The game however is stupid, I was one of the 1 star reviews on amazon, I havnt been able to play at all. I have been using a US VPN to activate the game because of having to wait until Friday to play in the UK is stupid. The simple fact is, they never made enough servers, every one of them is basically full now, and thats still with the whole of the gamers in the UK not even having the game released yet. If it wasnt for battlefield3 i wouldnt touch origin or EA games, I only got simcity because I have to have origin installed anyway for BF3.
