Re: Not British

The SR71 actually leaked fuel when it wasn't hot:

"Fuselage panels were manufactured to fit only loosely with the aircraft on the ground. Proper alignment was achieved as the airframe heated up and expanded several inches. Because of this, and the lack of a fuel-sealing system that could handle the airframe's expansion at extreme temperatures, the aircraft leaked JP-7 fuel on the ground prior to takeoff."

Music lovers move to block Phil Collins' rebirth

tomban
Windows

Do you like Phil Collins?

I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

How about the motorists utter obsession with getting ahead of the cyclist travelling at 25mph in a 30, and then cutting them up?

I have numerous videos of motorist doing exactly that to me.

It would appear that training, licence and insurance does not actually make them better at driving.

A DRONE OF THEIR OWN: GoPro tabbed for cameracopter launch

tomban

Re: GoPro need to do more with their software

I agree. They also need to work on their firmware. I've had a 3 Silver and now have 2 3+ Black editions and they have some interesting bugs like randomly resetting the defaults and sometimes refusing the charge or switch on requiring a battery pull. Sometimes one will get warm when it switched off and drain the battery, very odd. On the silver, it would randomly turn on the WiFi when finishing recording or switching off.

At night your cycle MUST have white front and red rear lights lit. It MUST also be fitted with a red rear reflector (and amber pedal reflectors, if manufactured after 1/10/85). White front reflectors and spoke reflectors will also help you to be seen. Flashing lights are permitted but it is recommended that cyclists who are riding in areas without street lighting use a steady front lamp.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4: 4G Android tablet is easy to swallow

tomban

Confused

"For comparison, the Snapdragon 801-powered Galaxy S5 scores just over 3,000. Only the GPU lets the side down a bit, it’s just not up with the latest Adreno components in terms of outright performance, though this isn’t a failing you’ll ever notice in use."

I don't understand what you are saying here. The benchmark figures quoted above this seem to suggest the Tab S is faster at 3D (9326 compared with 8812) and only 23 point slower at 2D (1601 compared with 1624). Seems that the RAM is quite a bit slower though.

If it's as fast as my SGS5 in real use, I'll be very happy.

Interestingly, even though the drone was in class B airspace, the airport didn't detect it, are they too small for radar?

Also, I would just like to add that this was a foolish thing to do near an airport and it's people like this with DJI Phantoms (search Phantom Flyaway) that will get the hobby banned for the rest of us.
