It is difficult to complete "due diligence" on a company that you ended up with because they brought out the original company you signed the contract with. 2e2 were growing by acquiring great companies with great reputations, someone you would happily sign a contract with, unfortunately they were paying top dollar and financing it with debt.

The only option you would have had would be not to sign a deal with a "great small" company, doing good stuff, but at the risk it might be acquired and gone with one of the big boys like "2e2", oh hang on.....

Go easy on them, they are only a small fry compared to the McAfee's, Symantec's and Trend Micros of the world. You can hardly expect them to find viruses and TEST...

Yeah! Let's penalise the IT managers that can't protect their network because of across the board cuts to budgets meaning they can't afford to put in the correct Security Controls to protect the data.

I am not saying you are wrong, I see about a 0.5% click through rate on my adsense, but how do you suggest a website pay for itself if no one is willing to click on an advert to fund the site?

Most users do not want to pay to access a site, especially a new site trying to establish itself, you might pay for Wall Street Journal Access, but not a new site about cyber security that previously you had not heard off.

If we want "free" content, like the Register, we need to find a way to make sure they can pay for their Journo's and servers and internet bandwidth etc etc

I would be keen to understand what model you would be willing to support, given the fact it is not adverts.
