In the UK we don't have many houses with numbers > 3 digits, in the US it seems that 5 digit house numbers are common. Most people know their house number.
In the UK we have 6 digit postal codes (ZIP Codes?). Most seem to be able to remember at least 1 of those. I know the post code for my house, my office, it's warehouse, my Mum & Dads even my old bank (tho not my new one).
I don't get the "I can't remember a 4 digit number" brigade. PP
Medical exceptions, accepted.
@jmch"Payday loan" companies aka loan sharks. I would also include all the betting, particularly sports betting ads. They pay lip service to the idea of "responsible" gambling, but their business model, just like that of tobacco companies, is to target young people and get them addicted. Just as with the loan sharks, their primary demographic is lower-income people, they are simply preying on the most vulnerable.

Anyone else watched late night/v.early morning commercial TV?
Funny how these gambling ads seem to increase in frequency then. PP
"Ultimately, five inmates were identified as being involved with the hidden computers, and have been separated and moved to other correctional facilities."
I predict in a fairly short time there will be 25 inmates of US correctional facilities with these skills, rising exponentially. :) PP
I had relatives in Moelfre, Anglesey N.Wales and spent many summers re-reading the accounts of HMS Thetis posted there.

Once upon a time Hercules graphics brought MAC type graphics to the PC. Downline we managed to establish a company in the UK that produced high end audio/video realtime editing PCs and did pretty well at it.
Ah! Those were the days in the early 90s. 1152 x something in 24 (32) bit colour ON A PC. You know who you were guys. PP
I played for years as Chewie to my friends' Han Solo. His daughter was called Sarah which got us into the Hex editor. We progressed more rapidly through the ranks and when promoted finally to Elite, we became an "Energy Bomb". I suppose that's simple justice for those willing to use "workarounds". :) PP
Well AC, at least it was € that can be used in lots of places. I got stuck with €40 worth of Hungarian (we called them Huffs) for a year until I visited Lisboa. A colleague ended up with the change out of the minimum cash point dispense of 20SK in Sweden for a coffee pre-return flight. Don't think he ever went back to Sweden.
Maybe NFC debit cards are the future. I'm certainly not advocating joining the €. PP
@Ledswinger. "If the Straits of Hormuz are blockaded, then oil becomes a problem, but you'd need more than a navy to fix that because the trouble will be local"
I suspect if someone blockaded oil shipments there'd be a few more interested parties than our couple of carriers, many of whom are already local and quite well healed. PP
