Whilst we're talking dimensions, has anyone else stumbled upon a short si-fy-ish story about a one dimensional "dot" who visited a 2 dimensional world where he met a line and they both travelled to a 3 dimensional world and, I forget what happened next....
Aaaah! I think I've found it thanks to later commentards. Have a pint.
Once we'd grown large enough to require something more organised that "floppy-net" we installed a DEC P60 Novel Server.
Locked in the room that served as the warehouse, hardwire into a switchless socket so no chance of accidentally turning it off or unplugging it.
Feeling pretty smug about power we couldn't understand why the server kept shutting down.
Turns out it coincided with tea & toast time. The hardwired "server" power was on the same ring as the kitchen.
New ring installed, UPS purchased.
uncovered my Amiga in the shed last weekend. Months of fun trying to achieve Elite status. It does have a colour screen but being in the AV biz, we preferred to use a 28" Barco CRT monitor. Elite for PC was rubbish by comparison at the time, even with state of the art Hercules Gfx boards.
