NASA aborts third attempt at finally settling man-made CO2 debate

roger stillick
Headmaster

NASA's 3rd Attempt Fails to settle CO2 debate...how about Methane n Permafrost melt ??

In the last few Years tens of thousands of Northern Arctic Permafrost has melted, leaving mud bogs n hundred of thousands of acres of new Arctic Birch n White pine trees...Russia from Archangel to Vardo, and the Yukon River estuary in Alaska...40 ft tall trees, by the millions...

The permafrost melt released methane gas in huge amounts (the thawed product is being studied by Japan as a commercial fuel gas)...per experts, Methane is a global warming gas...and only being studied by the NASA C-23 flights each summer in the Yukon delta...no data published...

IMHO= CO2 and Methane gas emitted by global warming of arctic permafrost is real and not even being studied...Q= why is this not being added to the human city temperature rise readings ??

FYI= all of the rotten wood on the planet is eaten by termites and methane is released as a digestion byproduct... the quanity is huge and not even looked at...RS.

Q= why doesn't Garmin make a simple fone ??

IMHO= Talk, Text, IM, GPS... that's all that is needed... perhaps music as fill...no more than a 12 key pad n 5 key pointer w/2key start buttons, or, 19 input devices on a touch screen ?? sure = make it sealed n waterproof w/no jacks - just bluetooth...8gig of internal sealed memory, sealed internal battery... sell for USD. $150.00...probably cost USD.$20.00 to make...everyone wins...

the sad part is right now, using the Nokia plant, these things could be in full production and MS couldn't make enough to keep up with the demand...every car owner and sports person on planet earth would need one... perhaps even make a GPS / Galileo / Glonass multiple sattellite receiver for the entire planet... remember = It's Just Software, the hardware exists today...everywhere, and Software is MS Job #1 per their ads...RS.

AT&T: We will right many of world's wrongs if allowed to slurp DirecTV

Re: It has Already Started...P2...

I may be an idiot, but have been a DirecTV customer w/cpe Sony eq since 1997...went to leased DirecTV eq in 2007...live in a rural area that just kills the pgm load in the receivers due to AC power problems...need system resets/SW reloads on a steady basis since the first Sony eq changeout...

Last month, the folks were helpfull, this month - for the first time the mood changed and we failed as a customer...took 3 calls to get a SW reload from head end (that fixed my ongoing problem = Error #747, function not supported - SW error)...

IMHO= the policy of selling an upgrade (that may or may not fix anything) is NOT the primary policy of DirecTV as most know it... for me DirecTV customer service is Job 1...and as customers we have come to know and enjoy it...Politics has no direct input in this FCC action...

The merger seems to be a done deal, and ATT wireless broadband AKA Rural Buildout is alive and active in the local area here and per our friends = it does not work for multiple sets as 1 set is the ultimate point of control for the wireless eq...FAIL...(need to go to the master to reset/turn on/off the slave eq)...RS.

Arpanet explored FDX-RR telegraph suvivorability

Windows Users need to look closely at what they are doing...

Full Duplex Round Robin telegraph circuits along with message relay protocol allowed messages to actually be delivered with lines failing randomly and continiously...

Data communication providers like IBM finally realized they could never have enough private data circuits to get around an area outage... Same scene for Boeing Data Services and probably the World's Military had similar problems...

Communication Networks were based around: long haul pilot-wire cable facilities (Russian 30 channel analog), Analog coaxial facilities (WECO L1 thru L4), and Microwave Analog or Digital Radio (many proprietary vendors, all incompatable with each other)... there was no method to restore anything beyond a single point of failure...

Darpa decided to fix this...the Arpa net was and is simply a test vehicle...to emulate the old 'We Get Through Regardless' telegraph message protocol... Hint: look at the ARRL message handling system, it works exactly like the Internet does in the failure mode (only for a single Ham Radio text message).

IMHO= it is sad that spying by everyone proceeded secretly along with the development of a working internet... somehow we need to find a middle path thru it to keep our civilization together as we go through the Arrow of Time (simply ignoring Government meddeling and Military excess actually works, ask the Tibet folks, who after being absorbed by China are actually still Tibet folks = forever)...RS.

Autodesk finds the 3D Printer thingy - Years Late...

3D solid renderings of engineering drawings have been the flagship of Autodesk Software...for years...

Aircraft engines built, Ships designed, Statue of Liberty fixed, all done without worrying about the odd pipe n the bulkheads all line up... Autodesk does this, really well...for a ton of money...on Engineering Work Station PC's.

NC milling machines, lathes, screw machines n profilers all use spreadsheet XYZ co-ordinates to make stuff... no Autodesk needed for these things to work ok.

3D printers came out the NC machine tool shops...cheap single board computers, home made programming, endless types of media extruders (my Nephew has one for Art Work)...

IMHO= I think the ship has sailed on 3D printers... way too many fab shops exist not needing Autodesk software, worldwide, for Autodesk to make any significant marketshare (by reputation - it would be really nice kit though)...RS.

Uncivil engineering: US society skewers self-published science

End of the Scientific Method ??

Ed13 mentions negative results not getting published or bad science...

Yet publishing infers peer review blesses the science as good...

And the published sites are paysites w/ only the synopsis available publicly...

Making the synopsis gosphel truth per the peer review (the publisher)...

Reality= there are over 400 paysite scientific journals w/ fees of USD 325 per year...

Q= who has USD 130,000 per year just to stay current in the sciences ??

IMHO= many say if having to choose between a lab n a good library, the library wins...Yet IF the library is only a collection of synopsis no actual research can be done without paying per article...

As a Buddhist Techno Historian, this is an untenable situation (no actual research work can be done, as all synopsis are not the actual work) no scientific method possible...

My work involves the serendipity of dissimilar sciences over time making patterns that turn out to be what actually happened (a historian)...RS.

speak command of C-64

Back in the mid 1980's our local Commodore club made 30 some disk magazine disks that had a built in speak command that ran as the text ran on the screen... the slow speech was hypnotizing...

We stole the code by reverse engineering the code on a commercial c-64 magazine disk...probably couldn't do that today...I believe it was an IBM binary routine, now part of their speech stuff- but Steven Hawking it was !! RS.

Thumb Up

32 reports and they are Troubling...

Plank 2013 results span 32 reports... they cross checked with WMAP 9... and sure enough, most of the 17 anomalies in WMAP 7 were still there, just more complex= the letters SH in zero emission were troubling, as is the big hole of zero emission...other areas exhibited periodic changes in emission levels of up to +3,-3 degrees...Troubling...

IMHO= new data will rewrite science, as it has always has...some find the future troubling, I do not...RS
