Exactly. Extortionists might have their short term gains but it just means when they get whacked back it's10x harder, and entirely of their own making.

Motorola repels US import ban bid by Apple
Nokia partners with EA in major WinPho game push
Have they got "Extortion Deluxe - mobile edition"?
Its great. The aim is to rid yourself of a growing pile of unsold mobile phones in Redmond, whilst at the same time extorting $5 per handset from the ones in the league above your own. No skill is needed, but it is against the clock as pretty soon everyone will have rumbled your game and even your traditional base will be eaten away by the vengeful army you dumped on in the previous game.

So, m$ adds bribery to its $5 per handset extortion
A worthless product which clearly no-one wants, being rammed down everyone's throat by a $300m ad campaign, all backed by a healthy dose of bribery and extortion. The stench of desperation is overwhelming - it's really obvious it's game over already and they know it.
Nokia: There will be NO smartphone division selloff to Microsoft
Exactly. It's not hard to see why most consumers treat m$ phones like muslims treat bacon butties. The comedy offerings available now look deliberately designed to fail. If not, jeepers, even its main screen is a joke - who the heck decided, on a handheld device where every pixel matters, to waste a quarter of it with a stupid great black column down the right, whilst cutting off the title text half way because, errr, there's not enough space for it? Does even this most basic UI concept fail them - or as I say, is someone back in Redmond cackling away at all this?
Nokia has the mother of all trojans
Even though now Nokia has been reduced to being merely Microsofts bitch, technically there's nothing to stop them selling their patents to the highest bidder, and not doing what Ballmers puppet says even though he's the CEO. The shareholders must agree to whatever gives the best value, and if that means a bidding war so be it.
I like this - a suggestion thread for what m$ should have called WP7. Here's a few for starters:
"Appless Desperation"
"ClippyBlueScreen"
"The BallmerFail"
"Expensive Irrelevance"
"The IsThatAll?"
And of course, bearing in mind its fantastic innovation of cutting words off halfway through
"The HalfAssedUs
In other news, Sendo "delighted" with treatment from m$
"The partnership has been fantastic", said a spokesman. "m$ are a delight to deal with and only have our best interests at heart. Truly, they go out of their way to see Sendos hard work, IP and effort in the past rewards the ones who truly deserve it."
Fact: When Stephen Elop joined Nokia, he was Microsofts 8th largets individual shareholder:

Apple to conquer connected TVs? Steady on, lad
Woah!
Apple don't like anyone bringing out a new device with the same look and feel as their own - look at how they bullied weaker governments like Germany and Australia to stop Samsung selling black, rectangular touch screen pads with their jaw-droppingly stunning invention of round corners. Ok, sense prevailed in the end but what's this? Apple now want to move into the very market Samsung has dominated for the last decade? Boy, I'm sure looking forwards to seeing what devices they innovate which aren't large, thin, black, rectangular, remote controlled boxes for watching TV on.
Microsoft mum on leaked Phone OS plans
"Advance the rest of of the industry". Well, their contribution to the advancement of the mobile industry is to extort $5 per handset from them - something these asshole apologists NEVER address in topics like this yet is OBVIOUSLY the main reason everyone detests them.
Prediction for 2012: It continues as now. No WP7 sales except to those they force to buy from them, the Nokia partnership becomes an embarrassing failure with the great public not even aware of whatever garbage m$ churn out in their desperate attempt to gain relevance.
They still don't get it. If the person who bought the WP7 phone pulled it out in a pub everyone around would laugh at them. Its a joke, It has no apps. It has no future. It would have struggled had it been launched 3 years ago. Brining it out now, with a fraction of the features of the current Androids and iPhones and even less market awareness is a whole new kind of fail for which a word hasn't been coined yet.
Its called "doing a Sendo". They have to pretend to release phones they think will appear to do ok but know deep down are shit so they fail, thus dragging down their "partner" so they can grab their IP for a song when they lie there, battered, bleeding and dying. Its brutal, but when you're plumb out of innovation ideas and your developers are deserting in droves its your only option.
Lumia sales fail to set world alight
Given Microsofts track record will they get an easy ride when they do their familiar Sendo routine to Nokia? I mean, the monopolies people will as usual see right through their evil plot, but will they as usual wave it through or will there for once be any real opposition? In Europe, they are currently whining about Google and Motorola - clearly a much better deal all round than anything m$ pervert. I dunno, it seems like there must be a tipping point soon when so much anti-m$ sentiment flares up that even the most toothless asslicking authorities have to do something, and no amount of m$ sending them and their families to the Bahamas, like when they are selling their shit to corporations or local governments, will help them any more.
+1 No-one will touch this phone unless they are forced to
They have had their moment. There will be no return to the bloated desktop OS they dominated now - its either web-based via browsers, tablets or smartphones from now on, and they are absolutely nowhere in those markets. Just need a way to stop them leeching $5 per handset from the good guys somehow and then they're toast - reduced to merely skinning Google's search engine and calling it their own, for example, but for everything they put out:: http://tinyurl.com/46hlnq7
