Justice served: There is no escape from the long server log of the law

AndrewInIreland

Similar (but no visit from the The Fuzz)

I had something similar- was contacted by a company I used to work for (many years ago), saying that a client of theirs was screaming blue murder- their “IT Manager” had been on because one of their critical servers had stopped working and the explanation he came up with is that I had hacked them. So, mainly to clear my good name, I went onsite with a team, and found a load of suddenly misconfigured settings and config files. A quick check of the logs and I had a local IP address. Which lead right back to the “IT Managers” own computer...

Re: Plus, Apple are very busy alienating developers...

>No I'm not a phone developer, but is the above pseudocode really that hard?

No not hard at all, but it barely scratches the surface of the requirements for different screen sizes. You also have to consider image scaling and font sizing. Also your pseudo code is going to add a lot of 'interesting' aspect issues...

Apple's iPad Mini mishap: scratching out the retina screen

AndrewInIreland

Re: I agree, the lack of a retina screen is crazy...

Apple have always 'scaled up' their products. They know they can do an iPad Mini Retina, and that will come out next year. And repeat sell to the people who buy this model. They did the same with the iPhone; Provide a substandard product at the start and then add the features that you could get from other products AND make money while doing so because last years user wants to be this years user.

iPhone 5: the fab slab to grab

AndrewInIreland

Indeed, if the phone cannot see the GPS satellites then it cannot triangulate using that method. If there are no geo-located WiFi stations, then it can't use WPS. And CPS using cell tower triangulation is only accurate to 20m-50m.

Yeah, they were removing nail clippers at Dublin Airport too- and then in duty free there were magazines with free manicure sets (sissors and nail clippers) for sale.

I once asked one of the securitrons how did they ensure that the (expensive) bottled water for sale in the duty free area had been deweaponised?

Re: Doubts...

Exactly my thoughts- She comes across as a lot more vulnerable here and I'm not sure that's a good thing. However, that could just be a part of the game- She could get progressively confident as the game progresses. Kinda reminds me of when I last the latest production of Evita- I thought the leads voice was very weak and not up to the job at the beginning but as the show went on it got more assertive (and impressive). I thought it was a very clever device.
