As a 'Linux user I'd like to know what websites are counted. Facebook and twitter no doubt among them. I'd probably be fairly confident if I said I visited none with anything approaching regularity, occasional or less.

El reg users as representative - not likely. Since these figure include mobiles, smart Tvs and game consoles, it's too big a sample to declare on 'desktop'.

What's this fuss over 'Desktop Linux' anyway, 'Window Manager Linux' has always been more than sufficient for my needs, right back to FVWM.

I wouldn't say Desktop 'Linux is a success, but there is plenty of interest in 'Linux in the desktop for those that like it, but seemingly little interest from Microsoft in Windows Phone - If they had a shred of decency, they'd bin the project and buy up all the remaining handsets so poor sods don't buy a dead duck.

As to 'cyberpunk', does seem light on the cyber, or was he just too 'punk' to bother about the capslock issue? Certainly not 'cyber' enough to take note of his spellchecker.

- We don't have nearly enough of those...Apples idea of standards is something you get when you 'buy into' apple. No guarantee it won't be altered at their whim. The Banks clearly aren't happy with apple as the gatekeeper for this technology considering 35-40% of their customers are using it (possibly higher when you factor in the slightly higher disposable income of many apple users).

Mainstream Political parties, no matter what spectrum they are on, don't want public confidence in 'the system' rocked too much, just their opponents seen on a little more shakier ground than them.

- Well, if you were going to do it that way, it'd be more logical to divide the area into small squares with bits of string and actually get on your hands and knees and search properly. Walking up and down looking down is just trusting to luck.

Had it been in common parlance, it wouldn't have drawn my attention. There are few URLs with 'bingit' in the title (probably owned or sponsored by MS), but I doubt even inside Microsoft many use 'bing it'.

* well in my case maybe, if it wasn't for the requirement to appear not a complete deviant ecchi hentai and possible danger to society.

- Perhaps people are confused by all the now big name companies that allegedly started in Californian 'garages' in the 1970's. Presumably a lot more unlikely in most of Northern Europe (the rain, the cold, the damp and dark evenings most of the year.).

- Obligatory, 'won't kill my netbook off, it's running Ubuntu'. With netbooks, you at least have options, damn all option on the tablets though (and before anybody poo poos unity, I mostly use i3, but there's no i3buntu).
