If they REALLY go "Full Sherman", then Augusta, and Savannah may be in trouble!

They will take their march to the sea! In fact, didn't Tecumseh and his men turn north and battle their way back to DC? This is too funny. Sherman's march to the sea has always been one of favorite subjects, not only in history, but also in school period. And given the shite that I received from the so called Veteran's Services in Atlanta(Not the hospital, they treated me great!), I hope they get hacked too!

Tech billionaire Khosla loses battle over public beach again – and still grants no access

Tejekion

Why is this even an issue?

I believe the landowner should either be continuously compensated for use of his property(As in rent for use of his property as access to the beach, as well any needed maintenance, etc for the use of the property.), or the state should build an alternate route to the beach in question. There. Problem solved!

Re: Apple stole the iPhone

Umm. PPC WAS doing well. Until IBM decided to abandon consumer PPC processor. Motorola couldn't or wouldn't make enough future PPC processors to support Apple's expanding ambitions, and that's why Apple made the switch. PPC processors were at the end of the road, and Apple had seen it coming since MacOS 9.1, so they made all versions of OS X both PPC and X86 compatible.

They only switched to Intel when they felt their X86 compatibility was mature enough.

A single typo may have tipped US election Trump's way

Tejekion

Re: El Reg getting in on the Fake News action

I upvoted you for the first part of your comment, but would like to add, that I feel a lot less fucked with Trump in office, than I would have with a Clinton presidency. I feel, that now a lot of people that aren't working, but should be, will be forced to do so, and that the Repubs are going to bleed what's left of the middle class to death financially. but that trumps(pun intended), Hillary, and the global elite bleeding us to death literally. The shit plan of re-wilding most of America, forcing everyone into big cities, and putting most of the country off limits reminds me too much of the scene in World War Z, where the zombies were lured into the football stadium, and then nuked.

I received some very critical news, first from a coworker, then from several articles on the internet, where it was said to pay attention to what's being put out in movies and television shows, because in some way, it's either happened, is happening, or will happen in the future.

One example...Star Wars. If I remember correctly, was basically a futuristic retelling of MacBeth.

Tejekion

Re: @Ivan4

Or maybe you're just an idiot. Hillary winning the election was never about you, or any of the voters for that matter. It was about Jezebel, the whore of Babylon, that sits on many waters, aka Hillary being the anointed one, to finalize the global elite's plans to destroy America from within, and usher in the NWO initiative. An initiative, that you would have soon found out wouldn't have been any good for most Americans at all.

So sit there, and continue to bitch, whine and moan about your side not winning all you want. But for my part, I am rather happy to see all the questionable cabinet picks that Trump's making. At least I can be confident that there will still be a United States of America around long enough for him to govern over the next four years. And who knows, maybe he will instill enough fear in Washington D.C. to straighten things out.

Tejekion

Re: Their election chances were damaged because the truth got revealed...

Amen to that! Besides. I don't see why the Democrats are complaining about being hacked so much when the news media was all but hacking into Trump's past, trying to find every little dirty thing they could find to bring Trump down.

They even started talking about how he doesn't mention his rebellious daughter, not to mention his wife's past. In other words after the 50 or so years of wrong doing from Hillary, that the Russians DIDN'T hack, that was already known, Trump was criticized widely by the media, for being much less up a tripe bastard, than Hillary was a lying tart b1tch!

And no, I did NOT preview this first!

CIA: Russia hacked election. Trump: I don't believe it! FAKE NEWS!

Tejekion

Re: There's a pattern here

And I am starting to see you, like the shit news services that are Pro Hillary and idiot nimrods like you who are thrashing out, blaming Trump for things that are beyond his control, while ignoring EVERYTHING Clinton(Both of them) have done over the past 40 years. I can honestly say, I don't know where this country is heading with Trump. But that's a damn sight better than knowing the sovereignty of the United States has narrowly been saved, at least for the interim, from the very real threat to it from the global elite.

Obama puts down his encrypted phone long enough to tell us: Knock it off with the encryption

Tejekion

Oh go blow it out your two faced ass Obama. Or have you forgotten the saying "If it's good enough for the government, then it's good enough for me!"? In other words if YOU, yeah YOU, ODumma, your administration, Congress, the military, and government et al, require encryption, then why in the knights of holy living heyall, do you think the people DON'T need it?! We're YOUR boss, and WE dictate to YOU how you are supposed to be when fulfilling your oath of office.

So don't give me a cockamamie bullsh1t line about why WE, THE PEOPLE(Sorry, WWE Zeb Coulter, reference there), shouldn't have encryption, when Hillary Clinton has been getting grilled sh1tless over using a non-encrypted server for sending emails while doing her job?!

You, can't have it both ways, or at least you're not supposed to be able to. But then again the whole Hillary thing is not really about whether she's right or wrong. It's more about "Job creation" for a bunch of rich, greedy attorneys, judges, and government folk isn't it?

After Burner: Sega’s jet-fighting, puke-inducing arcade marvel

Tejekion

I have to disagree on the Amiga version being bad.

In fact I will go as far as to say, it was the most faithful recreation of the game,PERIOD! And I will also go as far as to say both the Amiga AND the C64 version had even better music than the Arcade game had. Anyone here the C64 Afterburner remix? That along with the Outrun Magical Sound Shower remix used for the C64 Turbo Outrun release were absolutely INSANE! Although I will agree that the C64 version of the gameplay was a bit lacking, the Amiga versions were as it got! even better than the Sega Genesis versions. Of course the Amiga had the luxury of using the same Motorola 68K processor that the Genesis used, so it would always have an advantage in Sega ports over any other machine.

There's still that "Point, click and install thing"

I still think people are not going to bother with Linux until they have a universal installer like Wise or Vise on Windows and Mac. Although repository style downloading and installing of apps are getting more popular(Thank you Apple App Store, Google Marketplace etc....), People in the desktop world still want to go to a website and download and install apps from there.

That IMO, is the biggest barrier to Linux going mainstream.

Re: I believe the MS is getting a unusually bad rap here on this one.....

Yes Visual Studio Express is free, but you can only develop metro apps on it. You have to pay for the full version to develop for anything else. But I see that I didn't explain that correctly the first time, so cheers!

Re: Misunderstanding

Well I can say this. My 2002 Windows XP machine is running Windows 8 right now. However unfortunately my Dell Inspiron 1501 wouldn't run Windows 8. In fact its having issues running Windows 7 as the built in Radeon Xpress 1150 chipset is not able to play hulu and netflix shows and movies without freezing up. It works fine on Youtube videos and what games it can run though. And I can use the Aero glass theme with it also.

Wonder if my Windows Vista Compaq would have a problem with Windows 8. It runs Aero Glass also, and seems to be more compatible with Windows 7 than my Inspiron is.

I believe the MS is getting a unusually bad rap here on this one.....

I mean...Ok I get it. Its not normal. And I think MS should open up Visual Studio express to all, and not force everyone who can't afford to pay for the software, go metro only. But I've been using the release preview for a while now, and once you figure out that the Metro UI is nothing more than a replacement for the Start button and bar, its pretty decent.

Of course, I'm no power user. I don't go digging into the internals of the OS to find every tweak and hack. But I'm more than a casual user though, as I like to tweak and hack here and there. So far what I couldn't figure out on my own has been found on the internet. Not having a start button is not the "end et all people.

And take this from an Amiga user from back in the day that's still using Amiga OS in multiple forms(WinUAE w/Amikit, Icaros Desktop, and Amithlon). I think, at least, this current release of Windows 8(Preview release), excites me as much as the Amiga days of OS3.1, which were very awesome, as many of you will fondly remember. I think MS went in the right direction with the OS, giving it a totally fresh new look.

A word of warning to Microsoft though. I'm still able to go back to those Amiga OS variants I love as of right now because you're not requiring me to decide whether or not I have to go with Windows 8 or stick with old hardware right now(The BIOS lock issue, or whatever its called.). You would do well to keep it that way. People don't like to be told what they have to choose, when its their money buying the product. To make people do so would indeed be catastrophic for the PC industry.

I tried Windows 8, and Love it....So far.

I kept thinking to myself. This is going to suck crap! No Taskbar and Metro only UI for the desktop. Much to my pleasant surprise though, I quickly found the Windows 7 style desktop(complete with Aero Glass theme and all) by clicking on the lower left corner(At least in the Developer preview I downloaded last night). I clicked where it Windows Icon was not noticing the little arrow behind it pointing to the left. When I did so, a slightly modified Windows 7 Aero Glass dektop appeared. I added the default icons and I've been using it ever since. I even switch back to Metro every once in a while to try my luck at some of the apps on it.

Getting out of those apps is a breeze. Just hit one of the windows keys on the keyboard and it backs you out of that particular program. I hate to say it, but it looks like M$ is going to get the $ out of my pocket on a WHOOOOLE lot of new hardware and OS when I start refreshing my systems and phones. 2013 is going to be an interesting year Tech wise...at least for me.

At least Leo is consistent!

He's ruined SAP before getting the boot, now he's going to do the same to HP. LOL That's what they get for firing Hurd. I mean I didn't necessary like Mark Hurd either, but at least he knew how to run a company. Now that I think about it, Leo is about par for the course as far as CEOs go. There's something wrong with them if they aren't running a company into the ground seems to be the general concensus among large companies.

Guess that's why so many get paid millions while the company they're managing go bankrupt.
