Confirmed: TSA bans gear bigger than phones from airplane cabins

Does Easyjet fly to the US? Noted in DailyMail (British National Enquirer cracks me up, Kardashians instead of alien babies) that they had an issue...

'sides, doesn't matter to TSA - carry-on or checked in, they've managed to destroy two business laptops for me in their performance of security theatre. I've moved on to Toughbooks but haven't tried my luck recently.

The Native American Wor-Wic Tribe is very litigious and will most likely be sending a cease and desist letter shortly.... OR:

"Wor–Wic Community College is a 2-year institution located in Salisbury in the Eastern Shore region of Maryland, offering both credit and continuing education classes. The college's name is a portmanteau of Maryland's Worcester and Wicomico counties"

A better can of worms...

... would have the FCC investigate how ISPs like Verizon, Exede, Comcast, Hughesnet, etc calculate data usage.

I know for a fact Exede can/will/is lying about data use - have logs, docs, screenshots, hardware to prove it etc - but who do you complain to? No one really gives a shit unless Trump is pissing them off for whatever today's reason is...

Luddite or Boy Scout? Could just have proper kit with proper batteries... It's a rare case that I need to plug in for power (8-12 hours on Toughbook, if that runs out, 6-8 hours on tablet, then couple of days with my new Moto Z Force ((LG G5 only got about a day)) ).

Oh yeah Re: 'Fresh as a Daisy'. I get that - my routine requires 3 hours from bed to site. First hour: Coffee, catch up on what passes for news, no talk, determining if I want to live of not. Second hour: Three S+C - Shit, Shave, Shower, & Cheerleading (It's gonna be a good day, it's gonna be a good day...). Third hour: Travel time, with stop for daily Gatorade & sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit - arriving early with genuinely faked sunshine and a thinly disguised side of hate & discontent.

My latest phone, a Moto Z Force, is a good phone but slippery as hell without a case. Even with an allegedly shatterproof screen, I was afraid of throwing the damn thing across the room by accident, until the case was delivered.

Re: Batteries

It used to be that as long as the alternator/generator was good, your car would run with a bad battery. Ever since they started putting computer engine/transmission controls in vehicles, your battery has to be the correct size and properly operating, or electrical gremlins will begin to appear throughout the vehicle. Sucks but there you go.

Optima batteries (spiral wound/dry cell style) aren't as good as they used to be and are more expensive since they moved production to China fyi. A good marine deep cycle battery is now a better purchase.

Re: AI in a Washing Machine?

'At least a Samsung would just go boom. Problem solved!'

Funny you should mention that - A Dish Network van & overly awake tech showed up this morning and fixed our Samsung washer. Said of the three models affected, ours was the 'middle one' in ease to fix, added something called an 'S' bracket, and was on his way in 15 minutes. Also said the new sticker would be along shortly, they were behind on that.

Good thing too, thought that washer was going to come through the wall this weekend.

Lester was a dick.

There you go - my interactions with Lester in 2000 over a damn El Reg Vulture pin contest were venomous and it took John Lettice to smooth things over - but it IS a nice pin.

That being said, that was a nice obit - quite a bit of information about Lester's life. Seems he led a pretty interesting life and got around quite a bit - which is how it should be, I think. I wonder what made him essentially say 'Fuck it'? Had to have been huge - that's not the guy I had a flame war with.

In the end here though, I'm feeling my mortality - Cheers, Lester! You get to live forever in the Wayback Machine! You fuck!
