Re: Shit and Shovels
@Dan 55
Do not speak of things you do not know - shit does *not* fly off a shovel - it mostly sticks.

Actually, already planned on plumbing a Chevy 350 with a 5 speed trans in there with a carb and ripping out most of the electronics when the 2.9l dies. Nag doesn't have electric windows or navigation, don't use cruise control (vacuum cruise control is available if wanted). Airbag and antilocks (hate the bastards anyway) may be challenging.
I do want to see 500k miles on this engine - this was my first (and last) brand new vehicle purchase. You're not kidding though, I get looks sometimes at the tire place when they find out how long I've had it - I'm the exception evidently, not the rule.
Hey Skippy, I have more than a few Android phones from different manufacturers over the years that got one or two updates over the course of the contracts.
Currently on a Moto Z Force @7.1.1, which is pretty good on updates, three this year so far.
Name the damn phone already!
Definitions.
US House of Representatives= Congress Critters.
US Senate= Lacy Panty Pansies.
Bill = A proposed idea introduced to the House of Representatives, that if approved, is sent to the Senate.
Law = What a Bill becomes after being folded, stapled, mutilated, and sabotaged, by the House and Senate's various committees, then signed into Law by El Presidente.
Please. Over ten years with Viasat/Exede/Hughsnet and it's never gotten less expensive.
$90.90/month for 15GB, I can be home or be out of the country for a month and I'm in violation of their Fair Access Policy by mid-month. I'm Fapped now, which reduces your speed to 56k modem speeds (fucking liars, I started with 14.4k modems and KNOW what 56k feels/looks like - 3.3kb/sec at best) and randomly flags a bookmark with a generic FAP warning (lol).
I've been on an AT&T DSL waiting list since 2007... I'm moving soon as the house sells.
Or did the victim owe him money for services rendered?
I'm not defending what he did, interested in the motivation. Annnnd why is that? I personally am owed $33k+ for a website I designed from scratch under near impossible deadlines - almost cost me my marriage in fact. Clients skipped, I found the bastards and hit them with a lawyer stick, several sticks. By law I'm entitled to three times the original invoice and some day maybe I'll get my money. That was five years ago... still ongoing. I lost one of two company service trucks in a repossession and laid off the tech who used it due to the loss. He had a young family, I hated doing it, but I was facing personal bankruptcy by being fucked over at a critical time.
Five years ago and I/my company still haven't fully recovered - yet those bastards who skipped have already formed new companies with cash reserves in the 7 figures... Laws.... pfft.
Not really... No plans, just day-to-day.
I watch and take care of several county election commissions, it's just so ugly, and I've told them, written 'official This-Is-The-Company-You-Pay-To-Keep-Yo-Shit-Running' emails, hard copies, pleading with them to increase their security. 'Oh My',. Silence. State just copped to the fact they should be using encrypted email addresses just a few weeks ago...
I hate them. Not the individuals, but as a bureaucracy - the most fucked up efficiency company of Bob's should be laid waste and begun again.
Too much? Sigh.... It's been a really weird day.
Back in the eighties, I was a heavy equipment operator working on a 15 mile section of the Central Arizona Project (CAP - brought Colorado River water down to Tucson). Good money, all the OT I could handle, and we were nearing the end of the our section. Company I was working for lost the next bid round and another company got the next 15 mile section, so I went to visit their office and was told to go see Mr. Pretentious Asshole, an equipment crew supervisor in the field. I located him and gave him my resume/inquired about a job.
That sonuvabitch looked me up and down like I was a bug and said 'I ain't having no fucking scabs on my fucking jobsite, you just go on home, scab.'
Cue incredulous surprise at an attack from an unexpected direction. I left his fucking jobsite, drove home, and sat down in front of the tv before I got mad. I didn't even know they were union, not a real issue since Arizona is a right to work state (good and bad, I'm ok with it). This was the BI era (Before Internet) but we had the Yellow Page Phone Book, with the government phone number blue pages - I let my fingers do the walking and ended up at the Arizona Attorney General's office. They didn't take kindly to some Eastern construction company breaking Arizona law and THEY made some phone calls - I'm winning, not a familiar place.
Fucking company called me up the next day and made me the offer they were legally held liable for - For the princely sum of 1500 1980's dollars, I would have the honor of becoming an Official dues paying Union member and be placed of the bottom of the jobs list. I would be there, working my way up the list by not working, for 3-5 years before I actually got a job.
This is why I believe unions, as a whole, can go suck a bag of dicks.
US railway unions are the same and are scary - done some work for one of them and I wouldn't cross them in any way, shape, or form.*
*Consider how many folks get run over by trains. Trains. Big, loud, heavy, run fixed routes, yet people on foot still get run over or 'commit suicide'. Weird, eh?
No coat - I was never here....
... Keurig Vue that I got a killer deal on a few years ago, but I've never purchased the pods. First thing I did was buy a couple of those Solo pod/basket adapters so we can run any brand of coffee we wish.
Thing does make excellent coffee, btw. Much better than our Mr Coffee drip and we don't waste any coffee.
Yes, and there is nothing I can do about it. I have Chrome and Firefox available with applicable extensions installed (Ghostery, AdBlock Plus, Ublock Origin, and HTTPS Everywhere), yet they still use Internet Exploder 11 because they don't know/want to know how to use them properly .
I do what I can.
Amazon just delivered a Samsung 512GB PRO SSD with a radiator cap, upper radiator hose, and a thermostat for a 1999 Ford Explorer in the same box with zero bubblewrap, peanuts, or those big airbag packaging to my office this past Tuesday. I didn't put them on the same order (the SSD carrier adapter showed up the day before with lots of bubblewrap).
I can't wait to see what combinations will be made when food is added to the mix - that new 20TB NAS in the same box as your 5qt container of Mobil1 5-30wt oil, oranges, milk, and 10 pounds of ground beef... makes total sense.
Truck: Bought it new in 2008, have 223k miles thus far, keeping it forever. I'll strip the interior to metal if I have to ;)
Mixing my own: I'm still nailing down the flavors I like - tend to favor fruit over dessert flavors. I plan on going that route in the near future.
Why anyone would want a tobacco flavored vape is beyond me, didn't smoke for the taste, but for the effect. Settled me down in high stress situations (started when I was 18 in the Army). What I've observed with vaping is that it satisfies the hand-to-mouth fidgeting as well as getting that calming nicotine hit - something that the gums, patches, Chantix stop-smoking methods don't address.
Polonium: Nope. Don't want to know. I'm good, thank you.
After 35 years of smoking, the only method that has worked is vaping. Tried Chantix, patches, and gum - vaping is what does it for me. I use a Baby Alien AL85 mod/3ml Baby Beast tank with various flavors at 6mg nicotine and just noted that when I started, I was using 9ml ejuice, now I'm only using 6ml a day.
I'm breathing better, finally stopped hacking in the morning, and is a much cheaper habit I expect to drop in the future. Biggest con has been that I noticed after smoking for 8 years in my truck, it smells pretty nasty from the cig tobacco smoke - I'm three bottles of Fabreez in... might replace interior.
'The government never should have let the public own computers..'
My Dad, to his son with a career in infosec, on why he didn't need to know anything about protecting himself/identity or get on the internet*.
*yet oddly not dedicated to his beliefs to call that son on his copper line push button corded phone to look something up on that same evil should-be-banned internet for him...
