This isn't something I just pulled out of pure ozone, I personally have my Verizon bills for reference on the $10/line and I truly interact with the acquaintance mentioned. I call it Obamaphone because of the meme of that very term. I happen to require mindless entertainment after some harder than usual network/server/workstation issues with memebase.com, cheezburger etc. Apple making a low-cost iPhone would make an excellent market penetration if they so desired and that particular market is worth billions, ask the richest man in the world - he owns one of the corporations that has the Federal contract.

The only people who are blind are the ones who do not follow the money, who profits? Ideology is fine, but who is cashing in on it is very important.

I'm not getting this 'issue' with TIFKAM, I use Windows 8 Pro everyday on my work laptop (HP Elitebook 8440p) and I hardly ever see tiles, I live on the desktop almost exclusively.. I check it now and again to see if there's any 'apps' from the MS store that need updating.

Which brings up a question: Why all the emphasis on developing 'apps' that imitate the functionality of what used to be simply accessed via browser? Yes, perhaps small devices, small screens, but why oh why do you need them on laptops/workstations?

Verizon can and will brick a cell phone - had to do so recently with a Samsung 4G Stratosphere that 'walked with Jesus' (Verizon's term, not mine lol). SIM had been changed out and they disabled it anyway.

Don't know what Bloomberg goes on about - pretty sure his "No Soft Drinks Over 16 oz" campaign fizzled too.

I would love and hate a cookie-cutter front to back business network installation. Love, because of the ease of installation and maintenance. This ease brings hate because anyone, everyone, and their mother would be doing them with anyone, everyone, and their mother half-ass maintaining them. Yeah, that person who installed Office on everybody's workstations is their ace in the hole. Half-trained, god help me, arrogant little bastards who are very convinced of their our superiority. Until it blows up and they have to call me.

In the real world(tm), most businesses can't afford the ticket price of a whitepaper solution and have disparate equipment installed at various times, a patchwork that somehow works for them. I myself have clients with machines ranging from DOS, Windows 3-by-god-1, 8 year old XP workstations, SCO Linux, MacOS, Vista, Win7, etc because one machine, one program the company depends on, only runs on that OS. Or company is too cheap, too poor, too big of an ego, to upgrade to something more mainstream. It's just not realistic.

If the author has done the work and is justifiably proud of his solution, be it elegant* or a work of duct tape art, why wouldn't he let you know he did it? It's a blog, right?

* Long time ago my first major accomplishment was migrating an NT4.0 domain to Windows 2k Active Directory with Solaris dns servers for a small ISP. 1100 websites, 10k users -> took me five months but I did it all by myself and didn't lose a single client/user. Very proud, I am even still.

Lies - it's near impossible to reload a weapon's magazine/chambers while driving unless you drive with your knees, so you really couldn't 'honk'. "Honk if your navigator is reloading for you" would probably be more correct.

At least this is what I understand about the treaty where the US-NATO/USSR-Warsaw Pact gave them up, it was a good first-strike weapon - except the French didn't destroy theirs.

Slight observation/opinion: Motorola's phones are much better than their tablet efforts. Yes, I have a Droid Razr with ICS and No, I'm not telling that to anyone to brag on it, it works great for what's it is (overpowers my Acer A500 ICS tab in fact). I'd rather have my Blackberry Storm2*, updated of course, but I had to make a decision on viability during a 2 year contract. That AT&T BB Torch looked good, but somehow Verizon got the retarded version and AT&T's network sucks donkey balls in this region ->Bing, Bang, Boom, Android.
