Curiosity Mars rover flashes pics of GREY drilled powder sample

404

Re: Am I the only person...

Was just commenting to the wife about the clarity of that pic - just like somebody was standing outside the rover and resisted instagram..

Would be a beautiful thing though.

Second thought: send a DRONE to mars and let it take some pics!

Horsepuckey.

Obama's first two years with Democrat House & Senate control barely got Obamacare passed and that was up-voted last minute & at midnight without reading the damn thing. Going on five years now without a Constitutionally mandated budget.

Point is Obama had all the marbles and lost them his first term - time wasted.

Infusion Rocks^: meaning the fascination I have with how different teas infuse in hot water - good teas are very rich in color and relatively quick, while cheap teas (tetley, lipton, bigalows) are shite.

Timidly, to be sure, since I'm 'merican and probably do not know of what I speak

However, one option I fail to see here is a clear glass mug for tea... and I like to see my tea brewing in the clear, as it were.

I'd like a set of those clear tea mugs with those silver/metal holders (russian?) eventually.

Lies...

"One thing we were hit over the head with by Microsoft in the last few years is that the hard work on Windows 7 was done in Windows Vista while Windows 8 owed a lot to Windows 7. It’s been clear for years there are no real big features left to add to Windows: the touch-based UI was the biggest thing in Windows 8."

Microsoft stripped out some useful bits out of Windows 7 to make Win8 easier to FB/twitter/midgetporn..... oh some things like A WIFI PROFILE MANAGER! Sorry... still twitching over that unpleasant fact.

Trying to place things in perspective here: Windows and MacOS always tried to be an all-in-one OS model (Office and Photoshop aside), including all the little tools for doing things, trying to exclude outside vendors (Netscape, Novell, etc). Unix and Linux were basic kernel OS framework with roll your own addon software, just install what you need right now, not guessing what you might need in the future or as an oversight.

This seems to have changed with the introduction of iOS and Android - bare OS's with just enough to get by, with monetized 'app stores' to provide software to individually customize the OS for the consumer. Pretty good model, Apple proves this everyday.

However, I think Microsoft is trying to duplicate this success but with tweaks of their own that they believe will maximize the profit potential. Like marketing/accounting have taken over the world with the consumer as the, well, neverending consumer.

IDK, pondering my navel this morning, it's been a long week.

All this iPhone v Samsung... sigh, no one thought Nokia/Motorola/RIM would ever falter either so give them time, nothing is forever. A few thoughts that will get some downvotes, I'm sure. I've never liked Apple or Steve Jobs, the superior attitude oozing off him has always put me in screw-you mode, if you know what I mean. I've always thought the MacOS clones should have been allowed to prosper and Apple might have never went through the years in the desert. Also have a scummy acquaintance(42) who has the latest iPhone to help attract little college girls at the bars but that's neither here nor there. Note quite the few grandma's with iPhones. Don't like the cradle to grave safe island hand-holding non-transferable money-pit either.

Enough rambling.. I've been through Nokia->Nokia->Nokia->Motorola->Motorola->Blackberry Storm2->Blackberry Torch(fail)->HTC Hero(fail)->Motorola ICS Razr-> and now looking to go back to Blackberry just for the secure messaging and the ability to run my own BES.

Korean War actually. When it was looking bad for the North Koreans, the Chinese jumped in with over a million men. Gen, MacArthur wanted to use atomic bombs to stop the influx, but Pres, Truman sacked MacArthur instead - they never did get along, one a peacock and the other a haberdasher.

That;s the short version anyway - China is waaaay scarier today when you consider what usually follows a generational uneven male-to-female birth rate.

What? Wife and I loved the Storm2 - especially the tactile response the touchscreen (very tiny click when tapping out messages).
