Re: Backup Power
Thought about that too - where tf was their backup power - then considered what they're using in machinery. Nope. Backup power plants would cost more than what they lost, can you imagine? lol...

UNIFIED GROUND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM!
OMFG I HATED THAT!
Fried of mine was given a Lancia Lancer as payment for something or other and the brake lights didn't work. We worked on that bastard for three days and never did figure out why.. No chassis ground wtf were they thinking? Double the amount of wire used with a separate ground wire for everything.. jesus I'm getting upset and that was 30 damn years ago...
Friend... well I'd say 'Paid It Forward', but no, he fucked somebody else with it... 'Fucked It Forward'? idk
No one wants 'black'? Both of my vehicles are black, I prefer it.
As far as pricing, I initially thought so too until I priced an F150 truck - $50k average starting price - and if you wanted a car, too bad - Ford is dropping all sedans other than the Mustang and the Fusion, will just be producing SUV's and trucks in the future - like Fiat did with Dodge.
/agree that the Tesla's are ugly - dream is to gather a few totalled Teslas and xfer the tech into a Mustang - that would trip the plebs out lol.
Every day is/was sensuous until I went off on some folks on a maintenance round...
'Sensuous here, can you take a look a <machine name>? It's been doing <whatever>.'
'What? Since when?'
'Three weeks ago'
'!?!? Why didn't you call me?'
'Figured it could wait until now'
...<blood shoots out eyes, I'm on a schedule>
'No. You waited until you could get the problem fixed for free - Y'all do this to me all the time and it ain't right and you know it!
'I didn't realize....'
'The HELL you didn't, <insert name here>! You're a dentist for God's sake! You don't do a DAMN thing "sensuous here", so why pull it on me?'
'I'm sorry, 404.'
Honestly should have lost the client, but they were wrong and they knew it. Hasn't happened since.
... I won't connect to wifi unless home, at my office, or at a clients' place (I set up their wifi so I know it's ok) - I have trust issues...
But then again... spoke to an old client who was having hard drive issues on an old Win7 machine at home, told her we could replace her hard drive with something faster or just go online and order a new computer since she was getting Win10 nags again. No big deal, right? Seems ok so far.
Client informs me she doesn't buy anything online.
Wait, whaaaaat? Really?!? Talk about trust issues!
I'm taking her shopping for a new workstation this morning.
;)
Parts are readily available for Toughbooks from Panasonic - even down to port covers.
This CF-53 was purchased a few years ago off Craigslist for $300, spent $200 at Panasonic getting the NATO-grade TPM password reset - had to send it off after 2-3 months of exclusive kitchen table use, parts spread across trying to do it myself lol.
Tried the tablet/cell phone route - turns out you have to carry two pounds worth of dongles, if available.
My CF53 has all the ports+ and yeah, it's heavy-ish.... ok, just walked around my house, it's a little lighter than a full gallon of Prestone antifreeze lmao...
However, it is a weapon, defensive and/or otherwise.
You have to demonstrate it to them - takes 8 seconds from a cold boot to login in Win10Pro (was 6 with 8.1 media center go figure) on a 2013 Panasonic CF53 Toughbook vs. a minute or so with a brand new stock Dell Precision...
I use Samsung PRO SSDs myself ;)
My Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 Midnight Madness t-shirt - I was very excited to receive that one lol. Four downloads over a 56k modem, three eventually failed, no auto-resume... yeeeah... Have a Netscape Communicator one I'm pretty fond of too.
That being said, most of my wardrobe consists of free tshirts from various companies, but I don't have to work for them - you have to pay to make me look at your network. Til then, don't care. No time.
